Ok, I feel like I need to explain myself. I hate EddEddy. And like EdRolf. Why?
Well, first of all, Rolf is not a part of the Ed trio. He doesn’t have that same close brotherly bond that Ed, Double Dee, and Eddy have. Shipping the Eds with anyone OUTSIDE of the trio doesn’t affect what the main plot of the show is about. But if you ship two Eds from a trio and leave one out, it destroys the purpose of the cartoon.
Next, people often take out of context screenshots of Double Dee and Eddy and claim that they’re gay. Every single situation that I’ve seen that connects to the screenshots has a very different context that the EddEddy shippers ignore. And now for a point that I have recently realized: Whenever Double Dee and Eddy are around someone that they have romantic feelings for (aka Nazz), they’re shown to be very nervous, blushing, sweating, and/or smiling shyly. Meanwhile, when the two do something together, like that victory dance from Dawn Of The Eds, or sleeping in Rolf’s bed in Will Work For Ed, they’re not nervous at all. They’re not blushing and/or sweating. And even though they’re smiling, it’s not shy smiles, it’s just happy smiles. Therefore, the fact that they’re NOT at all nervous around each other, unlike when they’re around Nazz, Double Dee and Eddy’s relationship is completely platonic and brotherly. Actually, I see Double Dee as Eddy’s mom friend. And not to mention the fact that Ed blushed and smiled shyly at Eddy in May I Have This Ed when Eddy tried to get a date to the dance. Ed had absolutely no reason to do that so he’s clearly got feelings for Eddy. At least until after he gets Wilfred’s phone number, hehe. Yeah, I feel like his crush kinda faded away after that, ya know for the haha funnies. (EdPig is a joke ship that I do not take seriously at all) I know that in the interactions that Ed and Rolf have had, they never blushed, and there’s no major ship proof that can 100% confirm romantic feelings. And I gotta be honest, EdRolf for me is really just a guilty pleasure ship. Like KevEddy. They both don’t make 100% sense but they wouldn’t ruin the main point of the show either. That might sound hypocritical but I promise I’m not trying to be. And listen, I know that Ed brought out Rolf's triggering fear of wolves in No Speak Da Ed, but it's not like it was on purpose. Ed didn't know. And Rolf didn't attack Ed to be mean spirited, he did it out of fear and trauma, not knowing how to properly handle the situation. You might call that toxic, but one, they were not already in a relationship, and two, Ed is also kinda the reason Rolf was able to tire out and calm down from his trauma when he kept saying "Hi Rolf!". Besides, when he found out it was a prank from that goatmilker lady (pretty stupid prank ngl) I'm sure he forgave Ed before sending him, Double Dee, and Eddy to Norway. It was all just a cartoonish misunderstanding. Well, thems my thoughts. And there’s EdRolf as miis. Ed stole Rolf’s heart… and his chickens.
