Thank you, @hack-n-slasher , for being a source of inspiration! 😚🫶✨️For once, I made a comic in a different format, and of course, what better way than to showcase Chucky’s excellent stabby abilities until Tiff nags him! Don't worry, no Eddie's were harmed in the making of this. He is just being tied up somewhere, so he won't walk in on them anymore!
I think this is something fun to dive into, considering how important Eddie is to Chucky's background! I think this might do better than just a boring summary, right? Late night lore snippets, more might be coming to you. I also just realized this will be the first full bit of dialogue this blog gets to see regarding Finley so, surprise! Enjoy it.
TW: mentions / depictions of things that can be commonly triggering (abuse, cults, etc); Finley's backstory is mature (18+)
“You left him to die!”
Finley pants, nearly out of breath, having finally screamed the last of his energy out at Eddie Caputo. Tiffany stands off to the side, processing her own grief silently. Finley isn’t sure how to feel, how to deal with this, how to wrap his head around the very idea that one of the people he’d considered to be half of his universe was just…
Dead.
Finley hadn’t paid much attention to the argument that transpired between his partners after he and Tiffany got home and found Chucky killing that woman on their bed. If anything, it more or less annoyed him, Finley couldn't understand what the big deal was! He and Tiff had a good day, they’d gone shopping, they ate lunch at a really tasty pizza joint. Why couldn't they have just had a pleasant evening after that?
It was hard to believe just hours ago he was smiling and having a good time, that the world at one point fell lighter.
All Finley could feel now was a dark, empty cold. Worse than any of the pain the cult could’ve inflicted on him, he doesn’t even think it hurt this bad the day he watched them drag his mother’s corpse from that basement. No, it felt like it was eating Finley alive.
And what makes it worse? The one man other than Chucky he’d let himself trust ends up being the one who turns their back on them. He’d thought of Eddie like a brother, in a way, Eddie… Eddie reminded him of Philip; a better Philip. Somehow, someway, it’d been like Finley had a version of his brother back. The one from the shared memories of being kids together, the very muddied times that in retrospect were never really happy, but Finley had cherished them because his brother had been all he’d had at one point. After what happened with Paul, Finley had entirely lost that. Meeting Eddie had brought those good things back to him.
The first day Finley met Eddie, it seemed like Eddie was more scared to meet Finley than the other way around. They'd both snuck awkward glances at each other, Finley had looked to Chucky to fill the silence, while Eddie scratched at his arm to keep himself from going for a cigarette- having been warned plenty not to smoke around Finley. Tiffany had her eyes on him like a viper, ready to strike if necessary, far less relaxed having never known Eddie the way Chucky knew him.
It was Chucky's trust in Eddie that was the whole reason Finley had tried to open up to him, to trust him. There were times when Chucky and Tiffany needed to go places that Finley couldn't- and in those times- it was Eddie that Chucky would call over to keep Finley company. That's just how his partners were, they refused to let Finley be alone for too long.
The first time he and Eddie ever hung out alone came to mind. Chucky had gotten Eddie on the phone after deciding he wanted to go hit up a bar with Tiffany. Eddie showed up relatively quickly, always eager to stay on Chucky's good side.
‘Keep your eye on him, keep him happy. Don't let him leave the apartment. One more thing, if you order out, you better triple check there’s nothing he’s allergic to. I’ll kill you if I come back and he's sick.’ Chucky had lectured Eddie before he and Tiff left. Finley didn't hear the rest.
Eddie was so scared to order out he’d messily slapped together some grilled cheese for them to eat instead of ordering food- playing it even safer and running old Disney movies on VHS because he didn't want to leave the cable on. But somehow, a few hours later, the two were able to share a laugh as Eddie told old stories to Finley. The things Chucky and him got up to as teens, the first day Eddie met Tiffany. Finley considered Eddie to be his first ever friend.
But now? Now all he could see when he looked at him was what Chucky’s dead body could possibly have looked like. The mere idea of it makes Finley want to puke. Finley just can't understand it. Why would Eddie betray them? After everything they’d been through!
Eddie stands there, his hands in his pockets, unsteady breathing giving away the internal feelings bubbling up inside of him. His gaze snaps away from Finley then, bringing a gloved hand up to his mouth and trying to subtly wipe away his own tears, “I- I’m sorry,” He whispers, “I’m so sorry, to both of you.”
Finley's vision was blurred through his tears, “Chucky is our world, Eddie. He… he is everything, he…” As he struggles to find his words, Tiffany finally comes over, bringing an arm around Finley and settling him down on the couch. Her expression twists at his words, he doesn't even register why his words might have caused her more grief.
“Oh, Tiff, what the fuck are we gonna do?” He looks to her, his brows furrowed in anguish, “What… What’s even the point of goin’ on anymore? It hurts so fuckin’ bad. Why does it hurt so much? My chest feels like it’s being ripped open.”
Tiffany pulls him closer, resting her head on his shoulder. Her own tears make their way down her face, once beautiful makeup, in streaks.
“I don’t know, Finny. I don’t.” She admits softly, her voice cracking a little, “But you know you can’t say things like that. You still got me. We have to be strong.”
“There’s no point anymore. It ain’t the same without him. We’re a team, the three of us, ya’ll said it,” Finley shakes his head, “We… we gotta join him or somethin’, Tiff. We should die. You and me. Make it quick somehow.”
Tiffany frantically shakes her head, the fact Finley could even suggest something like that tore her up even more. Eddie takes a step back, the shadow of regret still draped over him like a heavy blanket. He looked like the shadows were stealing him away, every breath he took was just an added layer of stress to the other two.
“Don’t you say that, Finley. Chucky would not want that for you, and I certainly don’t. We’ll figure this out, okay? Dying is not the answer.” Tiffany scolds him lightly, her head whipping to look at Eddie, “Get out of here, Caputo.”
Eddie does as told, knowing better than to test the patience of a grieving Tiffany. He opens their apartment door to leave, gasping and jerking in surprise when Finley is suddenly up and grabbing his arm. Their eyes lock, and Finley tightens his grip.
“I’ll never forgive you for this,” Finley snarls at him, “You’re a terrible friend.”
He lets go as Eddie jerks his arm away from Finley and exits the apartment. The second the door closes, Finley lets himself fall to his knees with a sob, clutching at his chest, feeling the world spiral around himself and drift further and further away.
Tiffany rushes to his side, bringing Finley into her arms, but it isn’t long before she lets herself cry too. The love of their life was gone, and nothing would bring him back.
It's been years but did anyone else back in the day read a fanfic about Eddie Caputo getting a little girl that's his dumped on him and abandoned by the mom, and now he has to raise her with the help of Chucky and Tiffany?
I'm pretty sure the little girl was named Valentine or something too? I dunno, I just need to know if anyone else read the Eddie Girldad fanfic
