Charles Lee Ray is a light skinned creole man.

Voodoo is a CLOSED PRACTICE, and is usually passed down as a practice through family connection. They often believe, as well, that the Loa is passed down through the family. He would not call on Damballa for mounting a doll, either, he’s not a ‘death god’.

I like to think his mother was the one who was creole, and would tell Charles when he was young about some aspects of the practice, intending to teach him more as he got older. When she was unfortunately killed, of course that wasn’t able to happen. His father was white.

And when it comes to John Bishop, Charles’ eventual mentor for the practice, I think John knew Charles’ mother, and was a regular part of her practice. Voodoo is usually practiced in community. When Charles met up with John, he became like his uncle. He knew Charles’ mother was intending to initiate him, and since he was the next closest practitioner to him he initiated him himself. He intended for the practice to be a positive influence on Charles since he had such a hard life, and was very evidently mentally unstable. But, Charles ended up using it for his own gain.

That choice of his didn’t go unpunished by the Loa who followed him, though!

hi i have an incredible dislike for hazbin hotel’s depiction of hell

do you want to hear why?

ok, i’ll talk

if there is one thing so many people tend to forget about the biblical system of heaven and hell, it’s that one place is for chilling because you’ve successfully died a pretty good person, and one place is a punishment for not trying to be a good person and being shitty or even irredeemable. It’s incredibly important to note that both places have order as well. Both places are societies, with ranks and a hierarchal system. heaven is just as organized as hell is.

if we wanted to make a hell where sinners can almost enjoy their very sinful lives and not have to worry about being good people, it would be much better to include the fact that if said sinners do anything that is absolutely terrible (such as exploit people for profit and your own sick fantasies like Valentino in Hazbin) they will be PUNISHED. because hell is a place of PUNISHMENT. Hell is a place of ORDER. the chaos comes from it being filled with terrible people, but overall, it is run with an iron fist. if you’re hurting others in reprehensible ways, you don’t just get to enjoy doing that. the demons of sin and higher ups exist to PUNISH and HATE those who hurt others in systemic ways. or else, why would hell be a punishment for sinners? if they were just allowed to run around and be terrible? biggest downside is it’s really really hot and stinky.

if you’re being a very flawed or not great person or being lustful or a little greedy or annoyingly envious on the other hand, then you get to exist in hell and do that. no one’s stopping you because it’s a place that exists to hold a bunch of people like that.

at least, that’s what i’d make hell like if i made my own version based off the mythology.

can you tell i’ve been pondering about this for a while? of course you can

tldr; valentino and others who exploit and abuse shouldn’t be allowed to exist in power in hell without consequence, so hazbin hotel’s hell makes no sense to me and i dislike it

I think stu not being bi doesn't make any sense at all because of his lore with Casey Becker.

i think casey broke up with stu or vice versa because she could feel that he wasn’t sexually attracted to her. in order to save his ass from persecution, he had to cut ties as to not be rumored to be gay. further more, he really amped up his fake sexual attraction for tatum when he started dating her, constantly showing public affection to further the illusion! boy’s an actor..

billy’s the one who literally had a child with someone he probably didn’t even remember. he got around with women 100%

i think that charles lee ray has bpd. every single time someone he cares about has left him or hurt him in some perceived way, he lashes out. his limerence for people very quickly turns into putting people on a pedestal while also not even having the relationship skills to make it work. when they do wrong it’s the worst, and he’ll make them understand just how hurt he is about it.

he also seems to have a very fractured sense of self, especially considering he continued to split his soul into several different vessels, showing the deterioration of the self this way symbolically. there were all sorts of chucky’s, with ranges of age, roles, and even personality. good chucky is an incredible example… they could honestly either be seen as schema modes or perhaps even parts of a system.

of course people with bpd don’t inherently murder people! i just think he’s a murderer who happens to be very bpd coded
