Eddie Giles - “Ain’t Gonna Worry No More” A Man in Love: Classic Soul Jewelry 2 Song released in 1969? Compilation released in 1990.
Eddie Giles is a very talented soul singer from Shreveport, Louisiana. His career started in the 50s, singing in local gospel groups. In 1966, he went secular and signed with Murco Records, having known a co-founder since the late 50s. After signing, he released his most well-known hit, “Losin’ Boy”.
Three years later (presumably), he released this wonderfully loud piece of soul. With a backing guitarist, saxophonists, organist, bassist, and drummer, Giles navigates each verse starting at a low pitch and slowly progressing to a higher and higher pitch, until unloading in the chorus. He manages to yell while still sounding remarkably smooth. Listen to him hold that vibrato when he yells that piercing “Oh!” in “Oh baby” for a couple seconds. Phenomenal. Also, dig how Giles seemingly maximizes his pitch with his line “I still love you”. It happens twice. The first time is the most impressive, because the lines it falls between are so much lower.
The backing band, most noticeably the brass section, is way more active after the first chorus, increasing the liveliness of the song as it plays on until the end.
An incredible piece of late 60s soul all around.

Eddie GIles "Losing Boy"
This is a Stax record from 1971 although Eddie Giles recorded it a few years earlier in 1966 (under the title of "Losin' Boy) for the small Shreveport LA label Murco. The original version of the song is below. The Stax version has a lot more pep where the Murco is more heartfelt. To get the Murco version you can buy a compilation called Shreveport Southern Soul - The Murco Story
