There were more solo blues and accompaniments in 1929, and the first of [Lonnie Johnson's] duets with Eddie Lang was released in January. Lang was a fine white guitarist, who recorded with Lonnie under the name Blind Willie Dunn. He was one of the few guitarists in Lonnie's class and they were very exciting together. Lang was the finer musician, and had probably more knowledge of the guitar's harmonic possibilities than any musician of his period, but Lonnie had an emotional sense and emotional intensity that shaded Lang's brilliance. Their duets were always marked with a careful respect for each other's abilities.
