San Diego Chargers WR Situation
With a season ending injury to Danario Alexander and a potential season ending injury to Malcom Floyd, the WR situation in San Diego is a bit unclear. Antonio Gates is a shell of what he used to be and I'm not banking on him to pick up the slack. I'm not very confident in Robert Meachem either, who I think is in store for a disappointing season. With that being said, we're left with Eddie Royal, Vincent Brown and Keenan Allen to consider. All three of these wide receivers should be available in the late rounds of most leagues so there is definitely value to be had.
If I was drafting today, I'd be okay going with any one of these guys. Royal has shown us flashes in the past and has the most experience of the three along with the fastest 40 time. Brown has a plethora of supporters who feel it's finally his time to break out, but he's battled injuries and has yet to prove himself. Allen is a talented rookie but has also battled injuries, which might have had something to do with the 4.7 40 he ran at Pro Day. Right now, the order I would draft these guys would depend on the scoring of the league I'm in. If I'm in a league that gives bonus points for big play, Royal would be my guy, however if it's PPR, Allen or Brown might be the guy to go with.
I'll be keeping tabs throughout the pre-season and updating you on how each player looks as they take on a greater role in the offense.
