knives are dangerous, kid, so cut the theatrics!
Though there was no county fair, hoochie-coochie show, or traveling carnival reported anywhere in the vicinity at the time, this elongated Gruenwald Tent appeared overnight in the town of Edendale, Maine on a balmy night in the summer of 1948.
After a short squabble over jurisdiction, the US Army took control of the situation, and after some initial difficulty dismantling it, burned the tent to the ground on the 11th of August.
As the wind unexpectedly picked up, pieces of burning canvas ignited trees in Grafton Notch State Park, as far south as Old Speck Mountain on the southwest side of the notch.
