Appointments at Mungo’s had become as common as training sessions in Dawn’s schedule. Whether she was there to see her healers, or to talk with Charlotte, she was at the point she knew all the welcome wixen by name. Still though, she tried to keep her time outside of her appointments to a minimum, getting in and out as quickly as she could. She was on her way out when she heard her name being called, causing her to whip around. “Edgar, hi.”

Bertie felt guilty, every time he went too long without going to visit his dad. His mum told him he shouldn’t, that he’d want Bertie to be living his life, and not putting things on hold, but even so. He was awake now, if you could even call it that. Most of his days were spent lying in his bed, gaze on the ceiling. For the most part, he was gone. And deep down, that might have been why Bertie didn’t visit as much as he should. Because as much as he told himself he was busy, it was hard.

He’d spent much of his morning at the side of his dad’s bed, reading him the paper, when he decided he needed a break, and a coffee. Slipping out of the ward, he was so in his thoughts that he didn’t notice the person in front of him until he walked right into them.
