“Such a sign only you would know”
What remains of the Joe Strummer subway at Edgware Road tube station, where he used to busk, close to the “Westway to the world” (which you can see in the fourth pic).
The entrances were all cordoned off, presumably for renovation or demolition, and all the signs vandalised.
It made me a bit emotional to see it in its dilapidated state, it seems to be the only concrete memorial to Joe in London after his mural was removed a few years ago, which I never got to see. But I don’t think Joe would have minded as much. After all, he said, “You can’t hold on to the past if you want any future. Each second should lead to the next one.”
