Edit Mania ~ over!
Yeah Edit Mania is officially over because I’m traveling back to my normal life today (bye bye Bayern and mountain forests), but I’m still missing about a hundred (!100!) pages!
Sooo. Guess what I’ll be doing this weekend!!

Good morning <3
•• EDIT MANIA WEEK ••
Hi guys I wanna keep ya posted on how my edits on the Danish version of The Serpent Kiss is going, and I wanna feel like I’m doing something productive when I can’t physically edit, so here’s a post!
Day 01 (so far)
4 hours writing
Goal page 35
Actual page 8
I started today at 07.04 on the icy porch, sun rising and mountains in plane view, and I tackled the prologue! It was a mess, even after my wonderful smart skilled translator had handled it, and it took me two hours to get it right!
And it’s official cannon: The two antagonists are now lovers ♥️ mm more dark magic blood love!
So that was awesome, but according to my math, I should be going 7 pages per hour, and approximately 35 pagers per 5/h if I want to make though my 320+ in just nine days.
And today was a reality check.
Writing. Takes. Time.
Like the actual physical writing takes time to get down on paper! Oh and, the illusion of having five undisturbed hours is exactly that. An illusion!
Eating, running down stairs because a kid is crying (don’t worry I have 5 adults to babysit, but I’m never NOT gonna come running if I hear wailing), having a cup of coffee, peeing and staring into space because you can’t think of the RIGHT WORD — All eats away at the seconds until suddenly it’s midday and the hourglass has run out.
Silly me.
However, I always knew the beginning is the hardest part and I suspected that I would have to drag my way through chapter one.
There’s just so much worldbuilding to sort and rearrange, and a lot of dialogue that needs to be sharper. But I’m adding in Shiroin’s creepy snake magic which I love writing (it’s sassy as fuuuck —so fun) and Kiel is about to be introduced, and I love writing him too (surprise he’s also a sassy binch).
And, bonus, the story is really entertaining and I freaking ADORE editing it in a different language! Even though it feels a bit strange. Like putting on someone else’s shoes.
Well! I’m just breaking them in!
I’m going to take up edits again after dinner and fingers crossed, I’m going to make it to at least page 20 today!

Day 02 (so far)
1 1/2 hour writing
Goal page 55
Actual page 20
Progress! And I’m fairly optimistic that I’ll reach to my goal today because I flew through as soon as Kiel made his intro.
Now there‘s snide comments and a murder coming up, so my pace is picking up because I want to get to it!
But it’s going to be a nighttime session because baby C has fallen ill with a cough. Ah.
The poor guy has been a trip to the mountain doctor (say what you will about Bayern but they know their natural medicine —as opposed to Denmark where we throw hardcore antibiotics at everything) and he is getting saltwater breathing solution, three times a day plus a lot of care and attention.
Well, I had expected minor hiccups along Edit Mania, and I’m fine with writing nights for a few days until the cough settles. But I’m not gonna lie, babies and careers is like balancing on top of a constant seesaw. You gotta find the balance to keep everything steady.
Kiddo B on the other hand is having the time of his life! He has a tractor-attraction and is literally screeching with glee every time we see one on our walks (63 times a day -it’s awesome).
And the good thing about living with the in-laws is that I don’t have to think about ANYTHING. They make dinner, clean up, take the kiddies off our hands (as much as possible) and every time I try to help out, I get strict german orders to go write my book.
It’s very effective and relaxing, and I can see the mountains from my bed while I cuddle the boys.
Mh. Okay.
See ya!
