I keep it pretty happy and chipper here on the blog. For this post, I’m taking off my metaphorical positivity cap for a second. Don’t worry, it won’t take long. ;)
If you’ve been following me for a while, and you’ve reblogged some stuff from me, you’ll notice that I always add text to my edits:
Title (in case of a project à la Arrow Hellatus Project - Arrow Summer Rewatch, this is an optional thing)
‘Quote.’
by cherrychapssstick
I don’t put it there just to make it all look fancy schmancy. Over time, this has become my signature. If you recognize it: awesome! Thanks for paying such close attention to my content!
Do you know what’s incredibly frustrating? When people decide they have the right to delete content they didn’t put out themselves on a post.
As a full disclaimer: I fully appreciate every single reblog. And I’m well aware that the majority of the people who reblog my content understand this, respect what I’m trying to say here and are not amongst the people I’m talking about.
But all the text I add has a reason to be there. I know Tumblr makes it incredibly easy for people to just change stuff and delete whole paragraphs, especially with the new updates (gee, thanks for making life so easy for people who contribute to your website, Tumblr, it’s SUPER appreciated). But you, as a content viewer, are not the person to decide if it should be there or not. The only person who has a right to decide that, is the content creator. Editing my content, in any way, shape or form, is not tolerated. I’m going to explain why.
First reason, as I’ve stated above: it’s become my signature. I put my Tumblr name/link to my blog with it. And deleting it, is like erasing a signature from a drawing. Common decency. It’s that simple, people.
When I make edits, I look for a certain feeling, a vibe for that specific episode or moment. A lot of the times, if not all the time, that comes along with a specific quote. So, for my edits, I feel it’s only natural to add them to my posts. I take time and effort to make sure the quotes are right. That’s the way I build up my posts, my content.
Therefore, all the quotes I add are a part of the edit. To me, deleting the quote is the same as deleting a part of the graphic. And it’s not okay.
If you don’t care for the quotes: that’s fine. You have every right to. You can even think I’m being a bit anal about the whole thing.
But the fact remains that it’s something I, the creator, decided to add. And you, as a content viewer, have no right to just click the delete button on it.
Be respectful of the person’s time and effort. Be respectful of other people’s content. And unless you have specific permission from the content creator: don’t touch what isn’t yours. Be the smart person and take the easy option: choose not to. Having to take the extra mile to actually delete something, is only going to frustrate two people: yourself and the person who created the post.
As an added note: I obviously have no problem with people adding comments with their reblogs. That’s something you decide to add to your reblog. It’s your content you’re adding. See how it works, people? I respect your content, you respect my content. Simple as that.
TL;DR version: Hands off. Have common decency. Don’t edit content you didn’t put out yourself.
*puts metaphorical positivity cap back on*
I hope you understand where I’m coming from. And thanks for reading! x
Seriously, I think this may be your best work ever. Ever ever EVER.
I’m all for hearing that meta of yours, because this is genius.
V, I love you. You give me way too much praise. THANK YOU. <3333

Why do you tease us thus, I wonder? OF COURSE I want to know what’s behind this one!!! Especially because there seems to be quite a lot behind it.
I couldn’t believe it when I saw it actually, first of all because that blood running from the first to the last one, it really freaked me out just a bit maybe. And the background, it reminded me of old maps for treasure hunting you know. And the second thing i thought was ‘story written in blood’ .
Yup, Im in a gory mood tonight, can’t help it.
I was wondering why the cards metaphor? Is it because of the push and pull game between Oliver and Felicity? And of course Felicity would be the Ace, isn’t that the highest card in poker or something? And Felicity has always been the hidden winning card in Oliver’s sleeve, and this reminded me of that. Is the Queen by it’s side wishful thinking? Why are the cards on the forefront? I dont even want to speculate if i turn out to be wrong my miles, but i really what to know your interpretation of this episode that lead you to this graphic.
Anita, I LOVE what you’re seeing in this one, like I always do. Thank you for sharing with me <3333

EBR kisses for all of you:
Now, my whole idea behind this one. It was quite experimental and different from what I usually do. So I’m more than happy to tell you my thought process! Putting it under a cut, because it could get long. Spoiler alert: it gets long.
The playing cards represent a couple of things. First, they’re a nod to the team thinking the heart-shaped arrows Cupid was using were a spade, so that’s how I got my initial idea for using cards. It’s also a bit of a metaphor to the fact that, for Cupid, this entire thing is more of a game for her. She’s completely freaking bonkers and the killing she does to get the Arrow’s attention is all part of that twisted little game that’s going on in her head. The blood streak I added helps with that too. That’s also a bit of a way to portray how much of a mess Oliver and Felicity’s relationship is at this point.
The joker card also has some significance. A nod to the Joker, first of all, because I always got a HUGE Harley Quinn vibe from her, from the little that I know of her character. I haven’t read the comics yet, so I don’t know if it’s actually intentional for Cupid to be a nod to her. But I’m interpreting it that way. So, Harley Quinn leads to the Joker, the Joker leads to sick twisted games. Ergo: Joker card. The other reason is that there’s an expression in Dutch (my native language): putting in a “joker”. It translates to giving a wild card, which, figuratively, you could understand as taking a risk, stepping out of your comfort zone, taking a leap of faith. Cupid kind of set that in motion for Oliver and Felicity’s relationship this episode, so she’s the “joker” to the pulling-back-and-forth game they’ve been playing. In poker the wild card, literally, means that the joker can be used as any other card in the game. It could be game changing, basically. So it goes back to Cupid setting everything in motion between them in this episode. The confrontation between Oliver and Cupid makes both Oliver and Felicity realize a lot of things, but it’s definitely not the same thing.
Oliver and Felicity both make really bold moves in this episode. Both in completely different ways. So, they’re playing with the highest cards.
Oliver has the king of hearts in the center. He’s willing to put his heart first, for the first time since 3x01. Something he almost never does, because in his mind, the city always comes first. He consciously goes to QC, ready to open up to her. The Arrow persona is completely gone in that moment he steps into her office, this is totally completely Oliver. A man who is completely in love with the woman standing right in front of him—who’s passionately kissing another man. He shuts off, closes up again, shelters his emotions back up, and turns back into the machine, the ace of hearts in the corner. A for „Arrow” is the most obvious, but also one heart. One goal. One mission. Which he always puts first. He desperately wants the king of hearts to come to the forefront, but there are too many factors that are preventing that.
Felicity has the ace of hearts in the center. She’s hearing Oliver, as the Arrow, over the comms telling Cupid that he can’t be with anyone. Again. She’s been hit with rejection after rejection. And I think this one just really hit her hard. She’s letting go of the last shreds of hope she still had of ever having a relationship with Oliver. To eventually give in to the attraction she feels for Ray. So the queen of hearts is in the corner, tucked away, along with her feelings for Oliver. What’s left now, is the mission. She has always put the queen of hearts in the forefront, but now she needs the ace to take the wheel. She needs to store all of her feelings for Oliver away.
The ace of hearts can also be interpreted as both of them being alone, yet so close to each other. They share one feeling, one heart, but they don’t give into it.
And I couldn’t NOT use Queen cards. Because, come on. The metaphor is basically writing itself. It would’ve been a wasted opportunity if I didn’t, right?
A bit different from the usual, and not every edit I make has a meta behind it that’s this extensive. But there’s a little peek into my brain!
I’m making a post about it, because it happened with two of my edits, by the same blog, in a very short amount of time, even after I put an ask in their inbox addressing it. (No, I’m not naming the blog. Because I’m nice like that.) And I want to put it out there, so people understand where I’m coming from.
When reblogging my edits, (which is incredibly appreciated, really, every single one of them) please never make alterations in the original post.
I put quite a lot of work into adding quotes to my posts. Whether they are quotes from the show, lyrics, or just words that inspired me to make the edit. They are always a part of the edit. It’s kind of become my signature. And when the post gets edited, they float around on Tumblr in a way I didn’t intend them to be on Tumblr.
So, I’m asking very nicely. Don’t edit my original posts when reblogging. To me, that’s common sense, but apparently, it’s not to some other people.
Adding comments with the reblog: go nuts! Editing my original post? Please, don’t.
I was tagged by the lovely felicitysmoakisaqueen and supersillyanddorky06, thank you for the love! <333

Well done, ladies! I’m already proud. Let’s see what you guys are proud of :)
I’m closing my regular requests for some time for a few reasons:
The Arrow Hellatus Project will be eating up quite a lot of my time. You can still leave requests for that in my askbox!
My sister is getting married in 3 weeks. And I’m made of honor. So the mental weeks have started in full force.
On top of that, I’m working a brand new job which has a 40-hour work week.
Yes, I’m crazy ass bonkers for wanting to do this all at the same time. But my family would like to see if I’m still alive and I like my sleep. So, I’m taming the crazy a little bit by closing off my regular requests for now. It will probably go back open when all of the wedding stuff is over and when I’m more in sync with the work rhythm of my new job.
