✧･ﾟ A short and easy workaround for Reblogs with Beta & XKit Rewritten

Disclaimer: This also seems to work with old Legacy-Threads when reblogging with the new Beta-Editor bc XKit Rewritten doesn’t work with Legacy. The whole trimming order and process of both combined can be confusing, but it’s important so the post doesn’t get fucked up. So technically, it's also helpful for Beta-Reblogging in general.  (video below)

SO, IF YOU WANT TO AVOID DOUBLE-POSTING of your own reblog, do the following:

Hit reblog (make sure you’re using Beta).

Enter reply, whatever.

Safe to drafts.

Remove the first post with Trim Reblogs.

Safe.

Refresh drafts.

Remove your own reply that now shows twice with the Beta-Editor. You will only have one option to remove here, so that makes it easy.

Refresh.

Tadaaa.

In this way you can preserve your partner's reply if you want to, since the blockquote-format won't work like that anymore. So hopefully, reblogs with the Beta-Editor & XKit Rewritten should be easier now for you and your partners without having to move your whole Legacy-Thread to a new post after this measure. I am very nostalgic over my old stuff, so that's a reason why I don't want to do it. If you have additions or experience possible errors, feel free to add them.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WILL ONLY WORK if your partner reblogged their response without any XKit-Extension. Just a plain reblog.

Hello! I was wondering if you know how to get rid of that annoying blockquoting when you reply to someone's thread? Like you replying and only wanted the other person's text blockquoted but the post still blockquotes a part of your text as well?

Ah yes I do! I'm so glad I can help here because it’s something I also recently found out lol. You really just have to do one simple thing, which isn't a real fix but more of an aesthetic fix. Now if you reblog just after using xkit’s Editable Reblogs, and you have more than one paragraph you run into the problem you described. The first paragraph is in a blockquote but the rest isn’t.

Icky gross nasty, right? Okay so unfortunately the only way I’ve seen people fix this, is cute little text decorations, like the ones shown below. Some people even use emojis, a simple period, hyphen, or other punctuation mark. Just make sure it takes up the first line of any reply and that you start a new paragraph after. 

And this is how it looks posted on the dash instead!

So yeah, not a perfect fix, but definitely an aesthetic one. This pushes the rule of “first paragraph must be blockquoted” onto a piece of the reply that doesn’t really matter. Also, if you see people adding these to the tops of their replies, THATS THE REASON WHY! It’s because they don’t want a weird blockquoted reply lol.

Editable Reblogs

Hello! Here’s a quick tutorial on how to do this! Before following this guide, make sure to install the new xKit extension first!

(1) Refresh your browser and click the Xkit icon

(2) Click “Get Extensions”

(3) Scroll through and install “Editable Reblogs” - it’s already installed in my extension, so it’s not shown here

(4) Go back to the “My XKit” tab and make sure that Editable Reblogs are enabled

(5) If you are reblogging a response, you should see this icon. (If you’re writing a starter post, you should be fine!)

(6) Once you click that, the formatting will change and the icon will turn gray.

(7) Here’s how to edit a reblog! I’m going to delete the top response because the other player has already seen it, and it’s already been posted on my blog.

(8) I can then reply to their post next! I also add tags to my posts to organize them, but that’s up to you.

Delete the top response (what you’ve written to your partner before)

Your post should only have one reply from you (your most recent response) and your one reply from your partner (the response you’re adding to).

(( So, I’ve been away from Tumblr for a little while, so can anyone fill me in with what’s happening with xKit and editable reblogs?

I can’t seem to get editable reblogs to work, which is obviously a problem for theading. I found something about xKit currently being broken so like, is this a common problem rn or is it just me ?? ))

Fix Pushed for Errors in One-Click Posting, Editable Reblogs

Hello, XKit users! A number of you have reported recent issues in Editable Reblogs and One-Click Postage preventing you from using those extensions in Firefox. We have just released a fix for these errors, so if you update your XKit extensions (Other tab in the XKit control panel, click “Update All My Extensions”), the issue should be resolved.
