The Tin Woodman’s Heart

Summary: 

Connor never felt that the word 'Deviant' ever applied to him. He doesn't share the experience of other androids: the shattering of his Mind Palace had released him from his obligations, but he felt no difference in his thoughts or emotions. He wonders whether he is truly alive, or if he is only a highly advanced, machine-learning AI imitating something alive.

Six months after the march on Detroit, the Senate is still undecided on the definition of intelligent life. Unregistered androids-- objects without owners --wait in confinement to be freed as living beings or destroyed as defective machines. Jericho, operating in the shadows, has assigned Connor as the supply runner and protector of the imprisoned people; he buries stockpiled parts and thirium in the woods outside the city. One night, he finds more than biocomponents hidden in the ground: he uncovers the shallow grave of an android, and it looks exactly like him.

A/N: This is a new WIP that’ll attempt to explore the difference between AI and Deviant while handling Connor’s internal struggles. It’s not all heavy, though: there are some fun scenes planned, and some familiar faces -- including Hank, though maybe not for awhile!

I'm really not serious about making up my own AU where my ships have children, but it's actually fun to imagine one. And the clothes, ah, just threw in whatever's in their style.

Azul (the lapis) is a sweet, country-loving, appreciator. Optimistic, but will still acknowledge the truth. A little bit naive and a little detached. She also likes dad jokes. Her gem is a triangle lapis lazuli on her back.

Olivine (I was thinking of making it 'Olive Divine' or 'Olivia Divine' just to make her a little more miserable. Haha), Azul's older sister, is the practical type. But this peridot's practicality sometimes lead into selfishness. She's mostly apathetic but she is very enthusiastic when she takes interest into something. She's a little shit. Her gem is an inverted teardrop-shaped peridot on her forehead.

Pearl Jr., (I haven't thought of a name.) casual but careful, is the 'cool chick' of the bunch. She's the most mature so she acts as the 'old sister'. Her gem is a pearl on her chest.

The little one with the thick curly hair is the Maheswaran-Universe'­s youngest. Naturally, we'd call her 'Nora'. I didn't think what else her characteristics is like except that she's curious, friendly, and she doesn't feel safe when Azul watches over her. (And it's not because Azul is an awful person.)
