EDITORIAL ARCHIVE - CORINNE DAY/DARIA WERBOWY FOR ITALIAN VOGUE SEPT 2004!

10 years ago ( oh my life, is it really 10 years ago?.....) I worked on this fun shoot for Italian Vogue with my friends, photographer Corinne Day, and stylist Cathy Kasterine with the stunningly beautiful model of the moment Daria Werbowy. That year was 2004 and Daria was voted the number 1 model of the moment,  scoring 3 Italian Vogue covers with Steven Meisel in July, August and October of this year, plus landing the lucrative Autumn/Winter Prada campaign, so we were all very excited to work with this newly crowned Ukrainian/Canadian supermodel. Corinne and I found this old hair book/catalogue in a random bookshop and there was a picture of a girl with her hair crimped in the middle section of her hair. We loved it and were waiting for a moment to do this on a shoot. Well here it is! The close up portrait shows of this idea perfectly, although I love the energy in these pics. I hope you do too.

MY EDITORIAL ARCHIVE - KATE MOSS BY JUERGEN TELLER FOR DAZED AND CONFUSED, NOVEMBER 1997

TODAY FROM MY EDITORIAL ARCHIVE WE'RE GOING ALL THE WAY BACK TO 1997.

On a brisk early Autumn morning, stylist and Fashion Director of Dazed, Katie Grand, uber make-up artist Lisa Butler and myself headed over to West London, to what was then Juergen Teller's studio, for a shoot for Dazed and Confused Magazine 

And so we sat waiting for the legendary Kate Moss to arrive.......... 

Once she did arrive, Juergen was throwing around a few ideas as to where to shoot the pictures, when he suddenly came up with the idea to go outside into his own back yard and shoot Kate lying on the floor in a slightly submissive, vulnerable fashion and to have his own foot appear in each shot, wearing his already worn in, white converse shoes, which were in total contrast to the delicate dresses and tops that formed part of Stella McCartney's second ever collection for Chloe, with the help of her then first assistant Phoebe Philo who we all know went onto be become Creative Director at Chloe after McCartney left, and whilst Stella now runs her own line, Philo is currently Creative Director for Celine. 

I braided Kate's hair in corn row plaits then began to let them loose throughout the shoot, until eventually almost all of her hair had become undone, leaving just the texture left by the braiding. 

And so, these now iconic images were born.
