Noor Bano (Grade 1) spent three days in the art room. Day 1: She made play dough Day 2: She added colors to the play dough Day 3: She made beads of different sizes, stringed them and baked the necklace. Then she came to me and said Ma'am I made it for you. I wore it instantly. Now I will add hooks to it and make it a permanent addition to my small collection of necklaces. Extremely touched by all the effort that went into making this beautiful adornment. Such a precious keepsake. Thank you Noor Bano.
A frantic knock on my door.
“Ma’am JAWERIAAAA. They are GROWING!!” They grab me by the hand and we run to the balcony. Indeed, they are. The first sighting. Plant Care is an entrepreneurial venture by the children. They will be launching their Organic Gardening Kits soon.
I volunteered to be their first client. They are growing vegetables for me in my balcony. (More than a week ago) M: Ma'am, if they don’t grow, will you not pay us? J: If you put in all your effort, I don’t see why they would not. I will withhold the payment only if you abandon the project. M: hmmm.. it’s just a little sad and demotivating right now. They take so long to grow.

They can be used to spread awareness too. Hence, they decided to create a Public Service Announcement instead.
Conventionally, the theme of 'How we share our planet' includes conservation and sustainability related themes. Hajra asked the children, what is it that they'd want to learn about 'How we share our planet' in their next project. Grade 3: -Darwin's theory of evolution and how it contrasts with what our religion says. -How are we sharing the world politically with other countries. Grade 4: -How can racism be eradicated? -What happened during World War 1 and World War 2? We all learn best when we are engaged in the learning process. Then how can children be any different? Give the children time and space to think and they never fail to surprise you.
Children walked into a class with music playing in the background. On the board it said, 'Mime for the blind'. A: Sir what do we have to do? H: I don't have any instructions for you. The children gave confused smiles and got to work. Some of them wrote about it. Others drew. Many had a discussion which knew no bounds. Instructions narrow down the horizons of our imagination and switch our minds to problem solving mode. At times it's good to let our thinking drift without bounds. Without instructions.
