Please don’t ever compare asexuality to superwholock again, for fuck’s sake.

I know it’s harsh and all that, but I didn’t compare them to each other. the specific thing I said was “stop treating [asexuality] like it’s superwholock.

i’m probably way overstepping my bounds on these sorts of topics, but there’s a larger issue at work on tumblr especially where people treat their sexuality and gender identity as fandoms instead of an aspect of who they are as a person.

asexuals who do this come across the worst out of all this, but there’s this whole thing of butting in on obvious joke posts and/or posts saying something about non-heterosexuality (but not specifically mentioning aces) to add their two cents. you’ve all seen the posts, and it does not come across any differently from the ‘adding a semi relevant supernatural gif’ phenomena 

yes, a persons sexuality and/or gender identity is important. it can be as large or as small an aspect of you as you allow it, and that is fine. encouraged even. but so much of it is encraoched into the language of being a fan of things in the same way as you would a tv show. you shouldnt conflate those things because what you enjoy is not who you are. it gets fucked all up because teenagers are idiots and zeal of the recent convert.
