just watched the documentary American Teacher because we have to write a paper on it for my sociology class and I have to say, I am woefully unimpressed.
maybe i've just seen too many documentaries about education to learn anything from them anymore, but I just felt like they didn't say anything I haven't heard before, missed a lot of good data they should have included to back up their argument (which was that teachers should be paid more), and most painfully..
they missed addressing the wider problems with the education system as it is today. they made no discussion of how the education budget is spent or how it could be reallocated. they simply argued that teachers should be paid more and more respected. while i agree, that's a snoozer of an argument to turn into a 1.5 hour movie...
