The College Board has spoken out on navigating Advanced Placement courses after new Florida legislation.
College Board Says AP Courses Won't Be Modified In Response To Florida Republican's Censorship And "Don't Say Gay" Regulations – Orlando Florida Reporting
– In a statement, the board said they were contacted by the Florida Department of Education and asked to "audit and potentially modify AP courses relative to the new Florida laws that restrict classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity."
√ The College Board said courses will not be modified.
"To AP teachers everywhere, please know we will not modify any of the 40 AP courses —from art to history to science — in response to regulations that would censor college-level standards for credit, placement, and career readiness," the board said in a statement.
√√ The board stressed the importance of such topics being included in the course.
"That learning objective must remain a required topic, just as it has been in Florida for many years. As with all AP courses, required topics must be included for a course to be designated as AP," the College Board said in a statement. "The American Psychological Association has also made clear that the topics of gender and sexual orientation are foundational for any college-level course in psychology."
The organization said it was "heartbroken" about the possibility that Florida high school students may miss out on the chance to take the course if the state decides to ban it.
Educators, particularly the activist set, seem to have forgotten that they are part of team when it comes to children. The child-parent-teacher team only works if there is transparency and a set of common values shared.

The school district received an F grade on their state report card for their ability to manage their finances. They failed last year too.
