I have had these pictures on my phone since Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 when I had excitedly trained my camera on the children for the inspirations they had sparked in me. I had gone to a welder's workshop somewhere inside Galadima, Abuja, Nigeria to get some stuff done when I saw these youngsters, struggling to understand something they were trying to study from pages of a textbook. I had listened to their individual arguments on the topic at hand and I came to realize that the problem was not their curios, confused minds, but the limitations of the textbook. As I continued to watch them from behind, my mind was racing and that day, before I left the boys to their textbook, I had found new convictions that have strengthened my resolve to make The iSchool CLOUD a perfect instrument for digitizing education in Africa. For example, if the textbook these kids were studying with had been The iSchool CLOUD MiltiBOOK, they would have been better off in so many ways. One, it wouldn't have been just a few bad static illustrations and text. They would have been able to study same topic by accessing hundreds of multimedia resources and several interactive tools that would have made it a lot more easier for them to understand the topic at hand. They would have been able to ask their teachers and even engage their classmates from across Africa to get further clarifications and instant answers on the topic! What they would have been able to accomplish with The iSchool CLOUD MultiBOOK would have been enormous. And that's why we have continued to invest massively (more than you could possibly imagine) on these many innovative things we are building. Like The MultiBOOK. But, it all starts with the ingenuity of our decision to makie educators stakeholders in the project by offering them opportunities to be involved in the design and deployment of the technology that's going to form the bedrock of digital teaching and learning in Africa. The nitty gritty of all this will be discussed at the next rounds of The Future of Education Summit, starting with Lekki 2021.
