Happy 170th birthday to Edward Drinker Cope!

(July 28th 1840-April 12th 1897)

Now many people don't know who he is, but he was one of the great herpetologists of the 19th century (though he's most well known for his work in paleontology).

He named numerous herpetofauna, did many other great things and had the influential journal Copeia named after him.
