Edward J Steichen was one of the early masters of 20th century photography. Having a diverse career as a photographer, painter and art gallery/museum curator, he is considered for his influence on photography, but also for his work in encouraging and exposing other talent as well through examples such as his photographic journal, Camera Work or his famous "Family of Man" exhibition from 1955 through the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
