heads up tumblr is emailing out a survey

(the subject is: “We want to hear from you”)

and it feels like they’re going to maybe introduce a feature which is just a piggyback off rival content creator support/subscription sites like kofi and patreon. they even ask “would you be willing to beta test new features?”.

they likely know that tons of people are unhappy with the recent update, and this is a derailment or distraction from that. i expected to see a survey about giving actual feedback, not this.

this is suspicious.

this site is so commercialised now with complete disregard for its userbase, i would not trust tumblr and yahoo to responsibly and fairly introduce a self-promotion feature. it was revealed a long time ago that deviantart (and probably similar others) sells creators’ designs and essentially disrespects them. i can see this going the same way.
