Size difference, cultural differences, more animalistic sexual things, hemipenes, eggs, biting, many different fantastical venom effects, cute fluffy brumation stuff, body temperature stuff.

They’re so cute and hot and AUGH. And, as always, because they’re fantasy creatures, you can kinda play fast and loose with biology and esp how it relates to gender/sex. You can make a dude lay eggs.

I have SO many thoughts. Egg bound naga complaining to their human lover and getting pampered until they can finally pass them. Naga lover delighting in how they only have to mess with their little human a tiny bit and suddenly they have the cutest little space heater curled in their coils, making the most adorable noises. Naga eating snake style and doing a few larger meals and then cuddling with their human after, belly all cute and round.

God. Head in hands. They’re so great. I have stayed normal about them on this account but GAH. Possibilities are endless. I always imagine them larger. Big ol’ fantasy cutie with a cute tummy getting cuddles because their partner is warm and they want the warmtj and

my bird (parakeet) decided its time to lay an egg and got egg bound and prolapsed probably does.. anyone on here ever deal with this im actively trying to get it out but shes stressed out and tired i just noticed maybe an hour or two ago any tips would.. help if not uhmmm pray💔 ive never had this happen and its late im stressed shes stressed its a horrid situation as is

I have seen multiple people get distraught about the potential stress their hen might endure if they get the Suprelorin Implant for their hen which prevents egg laying and recently The Unusual Pet Vets on Facebook posted about an ISA brown who underwent the procedure so I wanted to share it to help ease anyone's anxieties. If a hen is well handled they shouldn't have to be put under for this as local anesthetic should work just fine and shouldn't put the bird under any unnecessary risk.

This post should also be a good reference for how your vet should treat your bird, with consideration and respect.

As you can see Maple here was not very stressed during the implant insertion and went right back to eating treats after her treatment. If you have a beloved hen who has reproductive problems and you have access to this treatment do not hesitate if you are worried about the risks of the procedure as it is not very stressful to the bird. It can help hen's lives who are having reproductive troubles improve sometimes within just a few days.

I was having such a bad weekend over my eggbound mini chicken. Mission accomplished, the egg has passed! Now she just needs rest.

I've never been one to do this, but I'm so desperate right now. I've had my cockatiel "Flyer" for over 10 years. She is 12 years old and my favorite thing in the whole world.

She's at an emergency pet hospital right now because she is egg bound (which means an egg is stuck inside her, in her case it won't leave the chloecha.) Right now the hope is that with supplements and supervision, she'll be able to pass the egg herself within 24 hours of when I brought her in. However, if that doesn't work they may need to resort to manually removing it from her body. All of these things cost a lot of money, and I am a college student and can't afford to do everything in my power to save her. Egg Binding

Egg binding is a common issue in smaller female parrots such as cockatiels and budgies. It occurs when the egg takes longer than usual to pass and/or cannot be laid. This condition is very serious and can swiftly end a birds life.

Symptoms Include: - Swelling of the abdomen--you might be able to feel or see the egg shape. - Constipation. - Fluffed up feathers. One of the most common signs of illness in birds. - Straining to pass the egg. - Limpness. Sometimes, the egg can put pressure on the birds nerves causing her legs to become limp.

If your bird is egg bound, get her to a vet ASAP. This condition as stated before is very serious and needs to be treated by a vet.

Lucy Update (Long-ish post, sorry mobile users)

So since Lucy’s egg laying there have been some positives and negatives:

POSITIVES:

-Stopped the “I’m pregnant walk” (where did didn’t want to put pressure on her belly because of the pain) and is now walking normally

-Her appetite has SKYROCKETED - the vet says that she wasn’t eating much during her being egg bound because there was already so much pressure in her belly and it was painful

-Tail kinks are almost completely smoothed out 

-She’s firing up/down normally again (for almost 3 weeks she was fired up because of the stress)

-She is no longer showing her cloaca fully to me (vet said she was straining when the egg was still in there and she was desperately trying to push that egg out) 

NEGATIVES: 

-Where the egg was there’s still a bulge there, which is not solid, which is very likely just fluids but is still concerning nonetheless 

-Cloaca is still inflammed/agitated 

-She’s still underweight: she is 55 grams normally (mainland chahoua) and is at 45 grams right now. 

-We were going to go for a followup visit this afternoon but he cancelled on account of family emergency so we’ve been rescheduled this Wednesday at 10:30am

Lucy isn’t out of the clear yet, but she’s doing WAYYYYYYYYYYY better than she has all month, so there’s a very, very good chance that she’s going to make a full recovery from all this bullshit. That being said, 4 vet visits and tons of medications means Lucy’s vet fund is  being drained out pretty quickly, so I might have to start doing some art commissions again to make sure if things potentially go downhill she has the sufficient funds. More on that later. I seriously doubt she’s going to need surgery by this point, but I’d rather just have a safety net. For now though, we’re good. This is why I always save up a vet fund for each animal that I adopt.

i think archie has an egg and i’m really worried she’s going to get egg bound. any advice out in the birblr for helping a budgie not be egg bound? diet or supplements to help? right now she has only been eating a seed mix diet, which i know isn’t good for her but my mental health hasn’t allowed me to work on getting fresh food in her diet. i’m going to pick up some leafy greens today and see if she’ll eat them. and she has a mineral block that she loves to chew on.
