#egg timers

Eggtober 28th, 2025: Time

Time: Egg Timers both real and imagined. (Krita, Wet Circle, not timed, 16 colors)

Wasting time and speedpaint below the cut!

I had this concept for a while and decided "8 looks like an hourglass and we're getting to the end of Eggtober so now works." The oldest egg timers were little sand timers after all. So why not one of those fluid timers but themed after an uncooked egg?

And then of course the more modern ones that you just put in the pot. I could really use one of the modern ones. I dunno if it's my stove or me just not reacting in time. But lately most of my eggs come out medium boil or firmer even though I use the same eggs and the same length of time that I've always had success doing soft boiled eggs before.

I guess I'll just have to learn again...

You can see where I realized that the bottom part of the hourglass was wrong and went back to fix it after already taking pictures. Also I have to get better with the tools that let you draw lines and arcs and things. My hands are shaky as hell sometimes but the tools Krita has for that are not intuitive. You can see me mucking about for a bit at the end. Also I have to get better with glass and transparent things. I can do water pretty decently, but glass sort of warps the stuff behind it. I gotta do more real world studies on things. I gotta doodle more to learn and not just to make finished pieces.

And I should commit to drawing more when it's not just for a challenge.

I also had a concept to make this animated because it's International Animation Day. But I'll have to figure out how to use the tools in Krita or CSP first. But maybe I'll revisit something like this as an animation!

I can't believe Eggtober is nearly over! AAAAH! It was going so slow at first and now I'm barely keeping up because it feels like every time I finish an egg, boom, the day ends and we're one day closer to over and I'm happy to get a little time back for other things but also SAD because MY EGG ROUTINE! XD I like drawing eggs, I just wish it didn't actually take up time in my day. Art time should be bonus time that gets added on to your day and not just used up! XD

my favorite part of the android egg timer is that IT NEVER TIMES OUT EVER AND JUST KEEPS DINGING AT YOU INFINITELY UNTIL YOU COME STOP IT the fucking alarm clock doesn't even play a whole song before recognizing you're either asleep or can't reach your phone or have, like, literal egg on your hands (egg timer? hello?) or are in the shower or in the next room already folding your laundry or whatever, and says well okay i'll go back to sleep too but not the egg timer, it's the steadfast tin soldier and just sits there forever in the background going 'hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, it's time' FOREVER i want to turn on voice activations but i don't think it'll respond to 'JESUS ALRIGHT I'M COMING SHUT THE FUCK UP'
