So in explanation of the “gentrified dog fighting ring” post!! Some has to do with training, as in socializing the dogs with other dogs, and basic commands (sit, stay, heel etc) and some has to do with these dogs being rescued with no insight into bite history or past aggressive behavior (some dogs ARE aggressive, and some have bite histories and shouldn’t be adopted to anyone other than trained professionals)
Dogs without training aren’t necessarily dangerous, but every “pibble mommy” who adopted during quarantine definitely didn’t socialize their dogs with strangers & definitely didn’t check for aggression or bite history with the rescue.
People are very “adopt don’t shop” without insight into the reprehensible shit rescues OFTEN do just to get dogs into people’s hands. Dogs on their own if raised kindly will typically be very sweet themselves, it’s more of an issue with food aggression, and territory with strangers and dogs they don’t know. Especially if the dog hasn’t been around smaller dogs and they’re, let’s say, a chow mix.
Ohhhh I see that makes a lot more sense, thank you!! Yeah I've never really been around dogs a lot growing up so I was super confused haha
