I'm watching Tommy's new smp which the chat has dubbed TheEggSmp (Egg Smp) and so far its given me an idea for lore 😂
So everyone is given a job when they reach a certain age, it's not taken into consideration what they like or if they want to or what they can bring doing something else. But if it's discovered they have a Talent, they are forced into that role. Regardless of their own choice.
Tommy has always wanted to be an explorer, to see sights unseen. his day comes and unceremoniously he's given the job he's always wanted, they fully expect him to be lost like all the others.
As he travels though, he begins to realize he has a bit of a green thumb. Like...to an extreme. When he wakes he sees tall grass has grown around him, and everywhere he goes, he finds food in an abundant amount, ironic, given that he stayed hungry while in his community.
Making food comes easily to him, and the earth tills for him as easy as softened butter across bread. A sense of dread spreads through him: he's a fuckin farmer.
He knows if he returns, and someone finds out about his abilities, he'll be forced to be the farmer for the entire community. Forced to keep to his fields day in and day out, the horizon always there taunting him with the dream job he'd been given initially.
So he decides to try and help from afar. He wants to keep his explorer position, but share resources with the community, despite some people (RANBOOO) complaining about Tommy taking away his job as a miner.
Ranboo had originally been in charge of food, but never had a knack for it. It was too bright being in the field, he wanted the dim light of caverns. Felt the call of the cool stone, begging him to find the hidden gems layed within their layers. After failing miserably as a farmer, Ranboo was tossed to the mines, where he is living happily, until he hears about Tommy getting his explorer position.
Explorers also go spelunking, diving fearlessly into caves and being self sufficient. If Tommy turns out to have a Talent for this too, then it's possible Tommy might outdo him, and make him useless. If he finds better ores, stones and gems than what Ranboo can find athome, he'll be regulated somewhere else....again. No one's allowed to be useless in the community, you must do something for everyone to survive, or your banished.
Part of him is glad Tommy is off exploring unknown lands, but part of him feels guilty for the relief when he wakes in the dim light and hears from those above that Tommy still hasn't made it back home.
