like.... here is my ideal setup: I cultivate herbs and other components with proven effects on the body and mind, I learn in depth how they work and interact with each other and different types of people and other substances etc. people come to me for help, describe the problems they’re having, I give them options and explain the way each works and the pros and cons etc and work with them and their individual situation to make something that can help (or if needed, direct them to a doctor, like I said I am not here to treat life-threatening conditions that is immoral when I am not the best equipped to do so, unless for whatever reason it’s the only accessible option WHICH IT SHOULDN’T BE but u know that’s how life is)  also there are animals everywhere and people are welcome to come chill w them bc animals never don’t help, ppl can just come hang at my place in general if they need somewhere relaxing and safe for a few hours, have some tea and cookies or w/e, stay the night if they really need it, I have a neighbourhood reputation of being an awesome friendly magical hermit that helps people and grumpy conservative farts are scared of me

BASICALLY I’m a science wizard. What a good thing to be. Also “medicine” was probably not quite the right word to use in that post more just generally helping people with for the most part distinctly non-life threatening issues lmao there are reasons modern medicine is regulated in the ways it is and I have some issues with certain aspects of alternative medicine and its community... like alternative medicine is a good thing to have - continue to have, since it stems from ancient medicine - but a lot of the people involved in it rn are... for want of a better word, problematic

I’m thinking of using the blue bar I made as some kinda... idk witchiness meter?? like entirely for my own self-indulgent benefit there I doubt anyone else cares but it’d also make it look a little more active because at least one part of it would actually change regularly

Alternate wand core experimentation possibilities (sourced from my incredibly battered but much-loved copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them):

Acromantula: hair/silk

Basilisk: plume (probably not feasible to investigate since they’re both illegal and incredibly dangerous)

Chimaera: whiskers/fur (as above, unlikely: also illegal and dangerous)

Demiguise: hair

Dragon: ??? (dragon heartstrings are already used, but surely there is some part of the dragon of potential use that is shed or can be removed without harming the dragon? I can’t find any sources on whether claws, horns, teeth and/or scales are ever shed)

Erumpent: hoof/tail? (excess hoof material and/or tail hair may be removable without harming the animal)

Fairy: silk/cocoons

Graphorn: ??? (possibly fur?)

Griffin: feathers/fur/claws

Hippocampus: hair

Hippogriff: feathers/hair

Leprechaun: hair

Manticore: fur/claws (if possible to obtain)

Nundu: fur/claws/whiskers (hahahaha good luck)

Occamy: feathers

Quintaped: hair (probably not a smart idea)

Ramora: scales?

Re’em: hair/possibly hoof material

Runespoor: shed skin

Sea Serpent: ??? (possibly also shed skin/scales)

Snidget: feathers (if able to be obtained humanely and legally)

Sphinx: fur/claws

Streeler: shell (obtained after death)

Tebo: fur

Werewolf: fur/whiskers

Winged Horse: feathers/hair

Yeti: hair

continuing on from the thing about harry potter wands from ages ago and how I was saying in that universe I might end up with a non-standard wand core at some point in my life, I was thinking more about that and tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if I actually ended up getting into wand crafting myself and experimenting with different kinds of cores and making my own wand(s)... I mean there’s no doubt I’d have access to all kinds of magical creatures after graduating, one way or another I’d make friends with as many enchanted animals as I could manage hahaha
