Hi, just wanted to ask. At the end of this semester I have to choose if I go into a general high school or a professional one(the difference being that in Greece professional high schools are chosen by field , which means that if I want to go to med school I have to go in the health field high school which has labs and teachers that are doctors and generally it is more focused on the med part..

and a general high school has physics biology chemistry algebra trigonometry ancient greek and composition being more focused on the general knowledge part) in the Greek society professional high school are often thought to be easier for "lower" students because some of the fields are very easy and require little to no studying for going into a college .

For a more detailed part In professional high school the curriculum goes like this -Anatomy and physiology (3hours) -First aid(2hours) Health and nutrition (2 hours) -Relationship between patient and doctor(2 hours) -English specialised in the medical field(2 hours) And the you can choose between 9 lessons that will be taught 5 hours a week each one

The 9 lessons it let's you choose - microbiology - nursing - Creative preschool employment - modern aesthetics - intro to physiotherapy - Dentistry - pharmaceutical technology - radiotechnology

My question to you is 1) what would you choose ? 2) is it worth it. All the struggle of changing an environment ?

whew that’s a long one! i think, first and foremost, it’s important to establish that we are both different people with different experiences and lives. i’m currently a pre-med double major planning on going to medical school, so i would likely pick the path that will lead towards the medical field.

however, you’re a different person than me with different goals in life, so you should pick the path that leads you to that destination. no matter which high school you pick, you’re still going to go through the high school experience with exams, classes, social drama, etc. there’s always going to be a transition and a change in environment from your previous school structure to the next, no matter where you go and no matter what education system you’re in, whether that be the greek one for you or the american one for me. so ultimately, it all evens out in the end + you shouldn’t be afraid or wary of that change.

don’t let societal expectations change your perspective, and instead of asking me, the more important question you should be asking yourself is what you want in life and which path will take you there. take care!
