I saw you mention that Evgeni Gerashenko had a troubled past. If it's okay could you tell about that? I know he was at BBA for a while and then transferred to VBA. But that's all I know
It’s Egor, not Evgeni btw. Unfortunately, I don’t have many details. Egor’s former teacher wrote a blog post about him last year. He mentioned that when he met Egor at BBA, the boy was very unhappy. For some reason, he wasn’t receiving proper guidance and, as a result, both his technique and his mental health suffered.
I later learned from an interview with Tsiskaridze, that Egor had undergone two surgeries on his leg around that time as well. He was in a pretty dark place and was reportedly considering quitting BBA and ballet altogether. The teacher (Nikolai’s friend) convinced Egor to transfer to VBA instead. The rest is history.
He is much happier now, and is very vocal about his gratitude and love for Tsiskaridze.
