Middle East: Egypt election extended by a day after low turnout

Egytpians goes to the polls to choose a new president. But a low turnout on first day of election, which raise concerns in Cairo. The front-runner, former army chief Abdul Fattah al-Sisi has voted yesterday. The electoral commission has extended to vote until Wednesday. Egypt 2014: Sisi vows Muslim Brotherhood 'will not exist'

Egypt goes to the polls to choose the next president on 26-27 election. On Monday, Front-Runner and former army chief, general Abdul Fattah al-Sisi give his first interview for Egyptian TV. Sisi vowed that the ousted Muslim Brotherhood group "will not exist" should he win. He added that two assassination plots against him had been uncovered. He said he changed his mind because of threats from both inside and outside Egypt. "Whoever has an opportunity to come forward to protect this country, and this people and their future, had to come forward", Sisi said. What's it means: More clashes between Military officials and Muslim Brotherhood on next weeks.

Egypt 2014: military chief Abdul Fattah al-Sisi resigns

In TV address to the nation. Egypt's defence minister and head of armed forces, Field Marshall Abdul Fattah al-Sisi announces his resignation of the charge to run in presidential polls in April 2014. He said told Egyptians he was "appearing in front of you for the last time in military uniform", before warning that the country was "threatened by terrorists" and saying he would work He also promised to tackle the country's growing economic problems, but said he could not "perform miracles" and called on Egyptians to work hard to improve their country. Egypt 2014: Putin backs Sisi 'bid for Egypt presidency'

Egypt will hold presidential polls in mid-April. But the campaign has started. Egypt's Field Marshal Abdul Fattah al-Sisi goes to Russia. He meet Russian president Vladimir Putin to discuss 2 billion dolars army deal and said he was "aware" of his decision to run. Putin said: "I know that you, mister defence minister, have decided to run for president of Egypt. "I wish you luck both from myself personally and from the Russian people."
