but now comes the grisly part. their favorite kitchen knife, blade shining, lifts itself ever higher. ominously teasing toward destruction, teeth flashing with a horrible smirk, until finally...

kris starts working on their jack-o’-lantern face. their own, filled with a mischievous satisfaction only they may really understand. as for susie, they give a little glance, curiosity taking their attention, and they gesture a knife-ly jab at the air toward her pumpkin. seems like they’re interested in what she’s carving!
