AU where Ouma has the ability to mind control anyone?

🎲 He grew up with it, meaning he always had the basic ability but slowly learned to use, expand and control it over time. He always had a feeling as a child that something was off whenever someone complied with his crazy commands without asking questions. As a teenager, the realisation caught up to him. At first he tested it carefully and trained it, he tried to explore how far his abilities can reach and where the limits are.
🎲 But once he did realise the system behind it, he stopped. After gaining total control of it, he stopped using it entirely, since he believes everyone needs to live life their own way and it’s only fair if he makes someone do as he says if it’s out of their own accord. Most importantly though, how boring would that be? Always getting what you want, always being able to control other people’s reactions. Simply knowing that he was able to do it kept bothering him.
🎲 However, there are certain circumstances in which he uses his powers and that is exclusively if he wants to protect someone. As a consequence, not protecting someone he could have saved from harm slowly started feeling to him like hurting the victim himself. It’s a feeling he doesn’t want to accept exists, but it’s there.
🎲 He will only use it if he feels like there’s no other choice. Meaning, he’ll first try to settle the situation through trickery and lies. For him, having this ability slowly became a responsibility of protecting others, but since he only uses it when absolutely necessary… he gets into way more trouble as a consequence. Expect him to be more bitter and doubtful towards other’s actions, views and the world, but also less careful about his deeds and own safety.
🎲 He wouldn’t tell anyone about it. Not a soul. It’s a problem he wants to deal with on his own, since telling this to someone, no matter how faithful they are, will automatically make them doubt him even more. He’d only reveal it if he purposefully wants to make people doubt him. If they spill the secret, he’ll lie about it and that’s it - no way in hell anyone would believe that without proof anyway.
