@ehyggelig || continued from here:
「 ❝ Believe me, I’ve been worse. ❞ He smiled lopsidedly, a fruitless attempt of diverting the subject.」
‘Yeah, sorry, mate. That ain’t gonna fly.’ Kyle eyed the other man, before giving him a friendly slap on the shoulder. ‘C’mon. Let’s go pump you full with some liquid amber, ey?’

He does not grace him a response, only looks at him, eyes narrowed. Words exchanged in fits of anger, even if one-sided, would mean nothing. He bites the inside of his cheek and reigns himself in. No, silence is the best response to that. Egill then looks away with his fists clenched by his side. They, the both of them were, are monsters. Unlucky only is the other that he has chanced upon the young Icelander’s momentary slip of control for him to be an unexpected outlet of Egill’s rage.

Are there any inner demons they can never seem to get rid of? What are they?
Oh plenty.
Some of these inner demons include the fear of losing his sense of independence, being abandoned to his fate, the feel of inadequacy and people not caring about him much. The idea of never being good enough. The fact that he can very clearly see what he could have been if not for a certain time period in the 20th century which he is probably going to be bitter about for a long, long time. Just unpleasant memories of people subjugating him time and time again - and the fact that he knows how much he has been changed (and warped ) by such mistreatment eats at him. He disassociates quite a bit since he doesn’t really appear to have a clear sense of self at times.

What beautiful poetry, Mr. Densen! You’ve done it again, you’ve captured the very essence of that feeling! I would very much like to have a talk with this author, and exchange some ideas.
