Eilis Boyle: "Rebirth 02".
Such a brilliant shop tucked away in the heart of Powerscourt Town Centre in Dublin. Not only is the clothing beautiful but they know how to present it so well. You can source the hard to find Cambridge Leather Satchel, some amazing pieces by Natalie B Coleman, Eilis Boyle's brilliantly warm cashmere accessories and well, anything else your heart will desire when entering (which believe me will be everything). And now you can buy it all online....so for those in far away fields, check it out. Unique beautiful and tasteful fashion. Chicsalute ladies, I love it xx
ABSOLUT Mode Collaboration
Last night I visited the fab South Studios in Dublin 8 for the ABSOLUT mode edition exhibition featuring the fresh new meat of Irish Talent all curated by stylist Aisling Farinella. White walls and electric blue lighting with fresh raspberry mojitos set the mood and a dj flanked by silhouettes of the iconic bottle pumped the tunes.
Fashion was placed as art for the evening with amazing designs to feast eyes upon. Simone Rocha designed a trapped lace dress teamed with a silk crepe de chine skirt and a plastic trapped lace collar. Helen Steele designed a fighting eagle printed satin down cape with a black leatherette dress and stretch printed leggings. (How I want to snuggle up in that dress on these dreary, dark wet nights.) Eilis Boyle designed a flowing liquid silk organza white dress dyed and stained with a grey hue. Natalie B Coleman designed a beautiful lambskin leather dress teamed with a carrickmacross lace collar. Sorcha O'Raghallagh designed a gold chainmail dress detailed with crystal jump rings and chain.
There were also pieces from the ABSOLUT fashion vault worn and designed by fashion royalty. It is brilliant to see such a huge international brand supporting the youth of Irish fashion, especially in the present economic climate. It is always important to support the local community but even more when it is supporting the arts. I was so enthused by the level of talent before my eyes and honoured to be invited to the launch. And the outfits worn by those attending you ask?As they say...... AB fab!!!!
ABSOLUT celebrating it's fashion heritage
ABSOLUT has quite the legacy with fashion. it can count itself as having worked with Stella, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford and Helmut Newton among others. And it seems that this heritage goes back some time to 1987. Vogue paid homage to the infamous vodka with a photoshoot in 1989 including up and coming designers including Marc himself as well. The rest, as they say, is history.
ABSOLUT though has asked 5 of the brightest sparks in Irish fashion to collaborate. Sorcha O'Ralghallaigh, Natalie B Coleman, Helen Steele, Eilis Boyle and Simone Rocha have all created a bespoke piece inspired by the infamous shaped bottle. Not only will it feature these unique once off pieces but also some others from the ABSOLUT archive including a Versace dress once worn by Naomi and a bespoke pair of Manolo's. The collection is curated by stylist Aisling Farinella and runs from the 15th-20th November in the The Loft, South Studios, Dublin 8. I cannot wait to see the outcome of vodka inspired clothing !!
Better Fashion Week
Dublin City centre is the stage which is set for Better Fashion Week 2011. A five-day event showcasing the best of sustainable fashion and Irish designs, beginning today and concluding on May 22nd.
The event, brought to you by Re-Dress, will celebrate environmentally-friendly and conscious fashion from all over the country, bringing in a wide range of voices and minds. From the areas of fashion design, styling, photography and journalism to the broader areas of PR, marketing and product development.
Some of the amazing designers involved include Peter O'Brien, Joanne Hynes, Simone Rocha and Eilis Boyle, a fantastic Irish talent who I recently interviewed for my thesis magazine.
Other notable faces will be fashion journalists Sonya Lennon, Corina Gaffey, Liadan Hynes, Sive O'Brien and Sunday Independent Fashion Editor Constance Harris.
Swedish-born, Irish-based photographer Andreas Pettersson will also be involved. Patterson, whose photography is beautiful, often shoots for Irish Tatler, who are organising a fashion show for Queen Elizabeth II during her visit. The show will incorporate the best fusion of Irish and British design. The details are scarce at the moment but the show is happening tomorrow, follow their Facebook for the latest updates!
The Better Fashion Week promises to be a creative, interesting and innovative selection of events to showcase the best in Irish environmentally-friendly fashion. There will be 'fashion as art' talks, fashion mentor programmes, film screenings and a live design workshop with Andrea Crews.
Log onto the Better Fashion website and book your tickets for the variety of events, some costing as little as €5. You can also donate to the scheme through the FundIt account.
