This beautiful portrait will be on exhibit March 1-April 1 (11-6pm) at Ghostwolf Gallery located at: 2043 Sth Plaza St NW Albuquerque, NM 87104 Opening reception is March 1st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Artwork history... From musings over coffee in the summer garden, feeling the sensuousness of a soft hair painters brush on my skin as I doodled with acrylic paint on hands, then legs, and feet, stemmed this idea of painting a live model. The human body can be art by itself, and I have always admired our beauty when seen embodied by an individual that is graceful, confident, and secure in their being. The first person I though of was Lisa, a long time dear friend from grade school. She and I met over coffee, and I expressed to her how beautiful it could be to paint the body with a canvas backdrop, also painted, and with a photographer that could capture the work to be produced through a giclee canvas. The enthusiasm of my friend, her connection with a local studio large enough for life-sized work, and my long time desire to transform the body beautiful into the canvas eternal resulted in this piece. Originally life sized with a 10′-wide by 18′ long raw un-primed belgian linen canvas backdrop that was painted on my studio floor, the final giclee piece is 29-inches by 42-inches. A cicada, the insect that fills the trees to remind you of the time. Summer time, the hottest part of the day, the best part of the evening.
