After taking many an EKG/BLS class and studying rhythms, I want to say I love the little squiggles artists use as “heartbeats” (and that I used to also use before I understood what they meant)
Like vv
This one looks like if your patient is moving around and it’s not reading the rhythms right. If it’s not, your guy is likely not doing so hot and might (probably) die or are dead
This one has all the components of a heartbeat but it’s really wide (in appearance) where the ventricles contract and likely to convert into a lethal rhythm left untreated. I actually really like this one tho it’s cute
What the heck is this?? Two ventricular “beats” that don’t repolarize and an inverted T wave and a u(?) wave/possible extra p wave. This is a funky, probably AI generated heart. It has a sort of charm to it tho
For anyone who wants to create accurate heartbeats, here’s a guide vv
I like to literally steal an EKG from the interwebs and overlay it onto my art.
But honestly tho, I really think it’s cute to see little squiggles and it makes me smile so also do those
Oh and if you want an accurate rhythms for a CPR-like situation, here are pulseless rhythms that you can shock, since you don’t shock asystole (flat line). Also helpful to add vocabulary to your writing!
This is a sine wave (what happens when your heartbeat/ventricular contraction is too loooong) and it’s real so when in doubt, squiggly lines mean you’re fucked. I bet this guy has a potassium of 10.
Side note: I’m not a cardiologist or cardiac nurse, my training covers the basics to maintain the safety of my patients by identifying potentially life-threatening rhythms or problems, initiating CPR appropriately, and notifying the right people.
Honestly, when in doubt, medical websites have a lot of helpful information about stuff like this if you’re curious. Happy creating!
