C, K, Q, R
C: Who is your favorite character of your own? Who is your favorite character created by somebody else? Why?
My favorite of my own is 100% Victor. I’m not gonna go DEEP into why because I’ll be here all day writing out the hundreds of reasons I am hopelessly in love with my own creation, but the most general reason is because I have an intense weakness for characters that are broken and KNOW it but put on a brave/arrogant face for others only to crumble when someone they care for catches their lie. Also he’s a sassy little shit and can cook like no one’s business. So. Yeah. *cough*
My favorite of other characters would be a toss up between Halt (of Ranger’s Apprentice) and Daemon (of The Black Jewels). Daemon because to be honest he reminds me a lot of Victor in mannerisms and general ‘the world has screwed me over and I should raze it to the ground but all I want is love damnit’ situation lol. Halt because damn it, he’s the most amazing grumpy old mentor/father figure ever. Best snarky old man. 10/10 would let him teach me Ranger skills any day.
K: Share an old, embarrassing work?
That….would be Carpe Diem (or The Truant Goddess, as it has been renamed since I started rewriting this Nov.), and no. No I will not share it. I would not do that to anyone except those whose eyes have already been violated by that monstrosity in it’s early days. Suffice to say I wrote that while on the cusp of going full weeaboo, and it came out a train wreck as a result. So many unnecessary scenes…and bad dialogue…and just….I don’t even want to read it I sure as heck wouldn’t share it haha
Q: How do you get through writer’s block?
Honestly? Usually I accept it and put off writing for a month or so until I think up something that HAS to be written. But then I don’t really get “writer’s block” so much as I get lazy/lose motivation. However, I do read other books for inspiration when I want to write but can’t find the words. I also save comments that friends have made on my work to reread and pull encouragement from.
R: What genre do you write in?
Fantasy. Absolutely. If we’re being totally honest it’d probably get roped into Fantasy/Romance but trust me as highlighted as the love life of the MC is, High Fantasy is definitely my primary position.
I also like to doodle around in Sci-Fi but I’ve only really written out like one story that qualifies for that. I watch it more than I write it lol
