Heeeey the FAA issued a no-fly order to or from El Paso's Airport for ten (10) days with no notice. There is no clear reason why except for a "security risk," but this is very alarming. El Paso has about 700,000 residents, and it's across the border from Cd. Juarez, a city with more than 1.5 million people. Fort Bliss is also covered by the no-fly order. The order also covers part of lower New Mexico.
No advanced notice was sent to local government or airlines; the military base also states they weren't warned. A thousand flights are being impacted by this sudden order.
Gov Greg Abbot hasn't responded to any comments as far as I've seen, but as a republican in the pocket of you-know-who, it wouldn't surprise me that he knew of this and didn't say anything.
This is developing, obviously, but keep an eye out for El Paso.
EDIT (2/11/26 7:23 am MST): The temporary no-fly order was lifted with no explanation.
EDIT: (2/11/26 12:25 am MST) I'm turning off reblogs because there is an update to this information. I'll make a new post.
