Brother, i'm sure you are aware of SOME of the Sunnis and Shias brothers looking to differentiate from each other as best as they can, and they do so for political reasons. I myself have observed this, but if you like to refute then go ahead; so my question is: when was '3id ul-Fitr, today or yesterday?
It all depends on what the scholars say. From what I know, if the moon is sighted, it is Eid according to the Sunni school of though.
But in the Shia school of thought, it can't just be anywhere. It has to be your hemisphere, or something similar to that. And even there is difference of opinion between Shia Maraaja.
As far as political goes, Saudi spotted the moon too. It was impossible to see the moon, anywhere close to Arabia but apparently they saw it. Only place it was seen, was Chile and barely. Saudi has their own moon.
