helllloo hi there so i have a confession and it’s probably not a huge deal tbh but the reason why i haven’t updated elapsed yet is because the urge to rewrite it has finally hit me. i’ve been meaning to do it since the start of last year but just… didnt 🙃 and then i reread it all at the start of december and now i feel uncomfortable not rewriting it before going forward lol.

tbh it has been 10 years since i wrote those early chapters and not only is there a huge contrast in the writing quality but when i started back in 2016 i was just pantsing random scenes with a vague end in mind and i hadn’t even come up with the ~adventure~ aspect of the fic yet… plus it was the first time i had wrote ff since i was 12 and i can TELL. so now i want to improve it and bring it in line with the newest chapters. theres also some subplots i want to change.

so yeah… i’m going to be changing the whole rei x mariah debacle. i just need to get rid of it. like why did i think that was a good idea? (i love them but for this story?? it’s really not working) so yeah. totally new storyline for rei that will bring him into the mix way more (hehehe i am excited about this).

also i really wanna slow down tyhil. they just got together off screen??????? r u kidding me? i was so focused on kai crashing out that i just…. dropped the ball there???? this isn’t even a ‘i wrote this 10 years ago’ thing like, this was literally stuff i wrote last year. i have no excuse lool

anyway i’m gonna keep working on ~johnnys castle arc~ whilst also doing the rewrite so that when that’s all done i can drop it all together??? and hopefully then it won’t feel like a big let down when i say ‘hi everyone! i rewrote elapsed! i know, i know, it’s still not finished!!’ *in spencer’s monotone voice*

i’ll put a little summary of what’s changed in the notes in the next chapter just incase anyone doesn’t want to reread it all because i think if someone rewrote a fic i was reading half way though id not want to reread it either loool.. like that’s fair!

so yeah, that’s why i havent updated 🫠 thanks to everyone who has read my little story over the past decade, i apologise for being such so slow writer haha! thanks for sticking around, i appreciate you all so much! hopefully these edits will be worth it ^.^

Elapsed - Chapter 20 - Stomach Backflips and Brainless Fanged Newts

Two days later the teams stood outside the hotel, waiting to board a coach bound for London City Airport. It would have been a relatively peaceful morning had a swarm of reporters not caught wind of the Kai VS Johnny rematch. As everyone gathered under the shade of the porte-cochère, the paparazzi bombarded them with questions, complicating the already tedious process of handing their luggage over to the driver. To make matters worse, Bryan and Daichi had decided to assume the unhelpful role of security, which was primarily achieved by standing directly in front of Kai and pretending to be ballerina’s as Hilary beat back the rest of the press with her carry-on case.

In the days since the invitations had been delivered, Kai had done very little. He was, frankly, exhausted. It seemed that what he was now referring to- internally, at least- as the Isobel Rescue Mission had rather taken its toll, not to mention everything else.

Still, it appeared that things were on the up. He hadn’t heard any news about the BioVolt investigation, nor anything about Voltaire. Thank fuck. And, contrary to the constant racing thoughts inside his head, his friends did not hate him. There was also the fact that for the first time in his life, Kai was actually taking active steps to rectify his mistakes, even if he was thoroughly hating every second of it.

Rei came over every morning to make breakfast, and sometimes even dinner. Kai wasn’t entirely sure of his motives, but he saw no reason to complain as it meant that he didn’t have to leave the suite to go down to the hotel buffet, leaving him to rot in his bed and watch TV, which was rather a luxury, actually.

Indeed, the most stress inducing event since his ‘apology’ to Johnny was an unavoidable fashion show that occurred the evening before their departure when Hilary, Mariah, Julia and Mathilda burst in through the door to suite 401, dragging a rather bewildered looking Tyson along with them. “They made me go shopping!” Kai, Tyson and the Blitzkrieg Boys were then forced to rate every dress that the girls had purchased for the ball. None of them dared say anything even remotely negative, though Spencer was surprisingly enthusiastic about Mathilda’s fairy gown, which had detachable wings.

He did not press Tyson on the circumstances under which Dragoon, a sentient being who did not exist in the physical world, had been able to gain the ability to eat at either fast food chain.
