It felt like it was yesterday just that Buddy had been approached by Elasticgirl. Some people could only of dream of such a thing happening to them; seeing a super. But not just any super! The stretch-tastic woman herself. But for Buddy, this wasn’t much of a big deal. How one may ask? It was pretty simple! Why be excited over a hero like HER when he’d met and seen Mr.Incredible on more than one occasion. Did she make front covers on the newspapers? Did she have her own theme song? Exactly! Buddy begun to start to journey to find Mr.Incredible.The soul reason Buddy had been fiddling with a radio which he’d taken off from his mother’s dresser, spending the entire afternoon outside tinkering with. many hours was spent on trying to get himself to listen in on what crimes was currently going on nearby by tuning in on a police scanner. The time spent with messing with the radio had paid off though in the end, as he began to listen to reports cops were making at the very time a said crime was taking place.
The mental image appeared in his head. A shadow had masked over him, drawing his attention upwards at a female’s silhouette. It was the heroin, Elastigirl. She bantered him with questions; asking where his mother was, why was he out at this time alone, and what he thought he was doing. Buddy gave her nothing but vague responses, he didnt think it was any of her concern nor business to know what he was up to. She wasn’t no big shot afterall, least in his eyes. So why did he have to give any explanation. When asked who he was though, he couldnt hold back-- he’d recall leaping up on his feet shouting the name ‘INCREDIBOY!’ And... what actually felt nice was the way she’d responded back to him, going as far as to call him the name he’d given to her! Incrediboy.... It’d made him feel like the sidekick he truly was.
Then came that deal. Upon finding out what he was going to get himself into, and refusing to back down from it either, The woman gave him an alternative. If she was able to come with him, she would let him meet Mr.Incredible. She knew him after all, he remembered her saying to him. Buddy thought back to feeling a jolt of pure bliss course through his entire body. Of course he’d accepted this offer! It was too good to be swept under the rug!
Then it happened, the bank robbery. Buddy remembered sticking close to her side as the robbery was taking place. Her asking what his power was, him playing along as though he’d had some in the mere hopes that acting if he did would keep the deal uplifted and not rebuffed. It was all so he’d be able to go see his idol Mr.Incredible. As sly as he thought he was being, it wasn’t soon after for the truth to seep in, that he was actually just a child. A powerless child. But after they’d taken down the badguy, and he’d come to fess up, thinking she was still unaware- the speech she told him was soon to be followed. One that stuck out and to him without him at the time realizing it.
‘ It’s not the power that makes a hero
but their heart.’
Those words. They kept repeating in his head like a broken record tape after their departure. It was so odd... normally, it was Mr.Incredible’s voice to repeat in his head, and his speeches that made him feel power and hope..... To make him think. But this time it was her. He couldn’t understand it or believe it. but, he didn’t shrug the talk between her off either. He found himself pondering on it- thinking of what steps he should be taking next!
Days had gone by from this event and he hadn’t seen her since. But what she told him had never faded from his mind. Not once. He wondered when he was going to see her next. If there was more things she could bestow upon him. Was this...normal? I mean yes, with the Mr.Incredible of course! But this was Elasicgirl. Was he...ill?
Buddy decided not to put anymore thought into it. What he wanted was more crime fights - more ACTION! More chances to meet mr.incredible!- And work by his side as his ward! The young boy rode his bike down the street. He wore his traditional sidekick outfit, and even went as far as to customize his bike to fit the blue and black coloring he wore with the recognizable ' i ‘ logo pasted right on the front of it. Buddy looked left to right continuously, scouting the perimeter in hopes of spotting the super.
Once again, Buddy spotted a super. But it wasn’t him it was...HER! He didn’t think. He didn’t need to think, he’d just reacted. Buddy jumped off his bike, stumbling for his next few steps once his feet had hit the floor. Letting his bike topple on the floor, the child ran straight up from behind her.
“ HEY IT’S YOU! uh--uh-- ELASTIGIRL!
what’re you doing here?
Are you fighting crime?
Where’re you headed?”
He spoke, poking his head out from behind her first going left, then right, then left again, just to repeat the notions as excitement was nearly pouring out of him. Buddy came out from behind, now facing her head on. He beamed up at her, a toothy smile stretched widely across his face. Before she could even tell, he inhaled and shouted out --
“ Can I come!? Oh please--!
I been practicing my moves--HEIGH-YAH!”
Buddy presented by pretending to karate chop a make-believe person standing near the two of them.
