Bertie is naked

My peach twig grew more twigs in her first year in the ground! They even have tiny leaf buds on them. Proud of her. She was a single, long twig with some roots attached when I got her.

But I had to do some pruning, because Bertie is a graft and the rootstock was trying to stage a takeover. You can see these were growing out of the place below the graft, so they had to go.

So I snipped those off. And you can see green wood in the places I cut, so she’s definitely alive! Just napping. I don’t know if I’ll get any fruit from her this year, but she might flower.
