Let's eat: El Burrito Mercado
If you’re in the mood to have an at home fiesta, I highly suggest checking out El Burrito Mercado located on Cesar Chavez street on Saint Paul’s west side.
This is a family run business with locations in STP & Mpls. When I cook mexican food at home or am too tired to make my own rice & beans with fajitas, I’ll stop at El Burrito to pick up the goods! It’s a literally one stop shop. They sell everything from their own house brand of tortillas and tortilla chips, fruit, veggies, marinated meat (fajita, chicken/beef/ pastor ) and desserts. I mean, really where else can u get a jalapeño for only .04!
Not in the mood to make your own guacamole and you’re tired of the jars of salsa, El Burrito has you covered. They have a huge deli wish an assortment of fresh guac, salsa, and cold salads. Oh, you forgot to pickup a dessert! No prob, just walk over to other side of the deli & you’re in the bakery! I’ve never had a better strawberry cake or tres leche slice In my life. You forgot to bring lunch or are too busy to cook dinner, You’re in luck! El burrito recently opened a casual dining experience inside the store! Any Mexican dish you want they have! You can even grab something to take home and bake! Mexican pizzas, tamales, enchiladas, chorizo, burritos even 7 layer fiesta dip! If you have some extra time after work, check out the happy hour! Where else can you find 2 for 1 margaritas In Saint Paul?
If you’re missing the authentic Mexican fare you’ve experienced on your worldly travels, El Burrito will make you feel like you’re back on the island! It’s worth checking out just for the experience. They also host events celebrating Hispanic culture throughout the year!
El Burrito Is also offering a selection of meat free options every Friday during lent: Enchiladas Cheese & potato, tortitas de Camaron (shrimp fritters in mole, shrimp ceviche, tacos, capirotada (bread pudding) you can also stop at Our Lady of Guadalupe every Friday during lent for cheese & onion enchilada dinners!
