The Selfish Giant

1. Give evidences to show that the Giant was selfish.

                Based on the story, there are some evidences to show that the Giant was selfish. For example, we must not be selfish because we will need others help too. I noticed that the Giant did not allow anyone plays in his garden but in the end he let the children to play and bring the Spring to his garden. is caring. This remind me of the Giant who built a high wall around his garden to forbid others. Moreover, other people won't like us if we are selfish. I was impressed by how the Autumn did not give any golden fruit to the Giant's garden because he was too selfish. (130 words)

2. What are the messages that you get from the story?

                Based on the story, there are some messages that I got from the story. For example, we must share our things with others because it will make everyone happy. This remind me of how the children were so happy when the Giant let them play in his garden. Furthermore, we must not be selfish. I never thought that the Giant will help the boy to climb up the tree and the boy kissed the Giant as an appreciation. Moreover, other people will dislike you if you are selfish. I noticed that the Autumn did not want to give golden fruit to the Giant's garden because he was too selfish. (119 words)

3. Were you surprised with the ending? Why or why not?

                 Based on the story, I am not surprised with the ending because I believe that every good deeds will be repay with good things. This remind me of how the Giant's garden became beautiful again after he let the children play in his garden. Furthermore, I knew that the Giant will realize about the importance of the children. I noticed that the Spring did not want to come to the Giant's garden because there were no children playing. In addition, I am happy that the Giant died under the tree while covered with white blossoms after all of the good things he had done for the children. I was impressed by how the boy who he help to climb the tree bring him into the paradise. (124 words)

LIRA 2 QUESTION 2

Based on the short story that I have listened, ‘The storyteller’ by H.H Munro, I chose the bachelor as the better storyteller because the bachelor was able to attract the children’s attention. I love the way he responded to the children’s questions and bring them to a whole new imagination for the children’s mind. Other than that, the bachelor was able to come up with a good storyline though a bit improper for the children, on the spot. Apart from that he was not grumpy as what he looks like. Lastly, from the story that he had created, he had given the children longing to listen to other stories and might have changed their attitude.

LIRA2 (Question 2)

Based on the story, i chose the bachelor as a better storyteller. It is because of the effort he put to capture the children’s attention. He was an imaginative person as he can answer all of the weird questions given by the children spontaneously. He was also creative as he can create a long, interesting story that have a story line compared to the aunt’s story which is very short and boring. The bachelor was said to be an interesting person because he can make the children to pay attention to him although he was a stranger for them. Why i said the bachelor was an imaginative person is when the children asked him about the weird questions such as about the flowers and the pigs and he managed to make the children statisfied with his answers.

LIRA 2 (Question 2)

From the short story of The Storyteller by H.H. Munro, the better storyteller is the Bachelor. In my point of view, the way he express the story is very interesting and more exciting. With clearly and properly, the Bachelor explained the details from the beginning until the ending of the story included the name of the character who is Bertha and so on. If I were the children definitely I will understand what the story is about. Besides, I will feel more eager and passionate to question the Bachelor for more details. In the other hand, I will learned more moral values from the story that told by the Bachelor which one of them is helping someone with full of sincerity. Thus, I will salute the Bachelor for telling the specific story and I feel more satisfied. As conclusion, Bachelor is the better storyteller.

LIRA Question 2

Based on the short story that I had learned, the character that I dislike the most is the narrator. What I dislike about the character of the narrator is he is a negative person. From the story, I had learned that he felt so jealous and envy toward Richard and Philips because his mother keep comparing himself with them. Regarding to this, he stole Mrs. Morphit's purse and put the blame on Richard and Philips. This is an action that cannot be as examplary. If I was the narrator, of course I will take as a challenge in my life when my mother keep comparing me with others by behave in a proper way and make something that can make my parents proud of myself. Besides, I dislike the narrator because he is an unfriendly person. Eventhough he is a volleyball player but he never made some friends. Thus, he is a quite person.

LIRA Question 1

Based on the short story that i have heard, I strongly dislike the ending. For me the ending was very upsetting and showed us negative example. It was also sadden me as the innocent people were blamed at the end. For example, the action taken by the narrator was making me upset because for me he should improve himself and prove everyone wrong and not to slander Richard and Philip about Mrs Moffat's missing purse. The narrator also should not do revenge on Richard and Philip because as we know both of them did nothing wrong towards the narrator. Furthermore, doing revenge is a bad example for us. Lastly, i felt sad for Richard and Philip because they were blamed while they were very good to people so that was very unfair for them. Thats all from me about the ending. Thank you 😊
