she’s used to falling asleep in a cold bed. her husband’s place at cortez’s side took him away from home often, and so she would be alone in their home for what felt like months on end - though it was usually only a few weeks.
it was, however, out of the ordinary to fall asleep with her husband next to her and wake up alone, the moon still peering in through their windows. groggily, she shifts onto her side, glancing around the dark room. “carlos?”
