Disclaimer: This is my first time writing for someone else and sharing it with the fandom. I hope you like it, dear @eldaryandy!! Also, I started writing this before episode 20 was released... After knowing what occurred, I decided to keep Naytili in. Hope it’s ok!
It had been a few days since the last attack at that point, and the Guard was divided between believers that it had calmed down and those who thought it could happen at any time they’d let their watch down. Naytili had gone silent for two weeks, and it was already well established that Miiko’s idea of keeping her alive was an awful one that would cost way too much. Curfews were once again implemented, the guarding at night doubled, and the sealing of the Crystal room wasn’t easy nor cheap to maintain.
On that night, it was Andreia’s turn to guard the main entrance to the Headquarters. The Obsidian soldiers were in charge of making sure no threat dared come near at a fragile time like that. She wasn’t alone, as Caméria was assigned as her partner. Most of the time was spent quietly, the natural night symphony being the only thing giving the young women company in the midst of the silence. The air was warm, and to Andreia, it almost seemed suffocating. She felt in her gut that something was quite off, but she couldn’t explain what that would be. With weapons sharpened and determinations to the fullest, the night carried on. Andreia and Caméria stood near the kiosk in utter concentration, guarding the view to the cherry tree and to the Arches. Taking a breath in, the hamadryad darted her head back in direction of the refugee camp.
“Did you hear that?”
Andreia’s head turned to her partner, looking in the horizon quietly. Another one. A shuffled explosion was heard from the direction of buildings. Caméria grabbed her weapon with a stern look plastered in her face, and Andreia dashed in front. Upon reaching the refugee camp, another blast could be heard, but yet again, it was stuffed, as if still far away. The brunette sensed the ground vibrate lightly, her stomach dropping in worry.
“It’s coming from down below!” She shouted, both quickening their pace in adrenaline. Seeing the entrance to the Headquarters in the horizon, a brief flash of purple hue accompanied with yet another blast was enough to seal away any more questions both warriors might have had. With now a dead serious expression, Andreia rushed inside, quickly hearing a maniacal laugh tormenting the halls that came from the staircase. Caméria gripped on her heavy weapon before hearing a mirrored laugh, this one echoing with sounds of weapons clashing from the halls that led to the dorms. Quickly thinking, the nymph bit her tongue in anger, charging to the halls of the Guards.
“Andreia, go and fight whatever is going on downstairs! I’ll take this one!”
Without hesitation, the girl glared at the entrance to the staircase, rushing in its direction. The structures beginning to vibrate more and more, she felt her heart race as the taunting, seemingly insane laughs resonated all around. Andreia felt the air tighten, as the aura present in the cellars was of an immense blackness. A thick purple fog made the whole view of the battle difficult, so the girl jumped from the stairs to the ground, listening at the weapons clashing. In the midst of the blocked view, the young woman felt a pair of piercing green eyes penetrate her, freezing in her spot. Andreia prepared herself for defense, being difficult to react quickly due to the mist in her way.
“Ah, so you show yourself…” a voice said with arrogance. The weapons stopped clashing for a few seconds, and as if to let her new viewer admire her masterpiece, Naytili opened the fog. On the cold stoned floor, laid a vampire Andreia was oh so familiar with. Nevra, gripping his blades with his hands, tried to hold himself up, before Naytili, with an amused look across her disgusting face, used the sharpened end of her staff to stab the vampire in his back.
“NEVRA!!!!!” She yelled, a terrified look on her face. Nevra coughed out blood, his vision blurry. All he could do was look up at his lover for a few seconds before he felt himself drift away.
Not giving up yet, another person came to view. Valkyon, beaten up and bloodied, charged at the witch with his axe yet again. Andreia, upon seeing her boss, charged at her as well, her blood boiling. That witch had done enough to harm the Guard, and she needed to be stopped. She just wanted justice for all the lives she’s ruined, all those she had hurt. Inside Andreia began to wake up a wildness she was afraid of, but needed.
“Still going to try?” Naytili said, a conceited smirk displayed at the Obsidian warriors “I’ve always hated you dirty rats of the Obsidian!” With staff in hand, a blast of corrupted power flashed to Valkyon, enough to make him once again fall, out of energy from the long battle. Now turning her attention to the brunette, she dodged a blow, aiming her weapon at her.
“You’ve got guts, Esora” she scoffed, another blast from her staff going off to her. Andreia was hit in her chest and flew back against the wall hard. Feeling her head spin in pain, she looked down at her hands, blood on them. Her own blood. This wouldn’t end good. Andreia breathed in and got up just in time to dodge another of her opponent’s attacks. Falling to her knees, she looked down at the end of her long brown hairs, who had turned purple in a matter of seconds. It had been a long time since her faelinne side had come out, and in the midst of her last moments of consciousness, she felt that it was hungry for bloodshed.
With now eyes black and golden, purple hair, and a hungry grin across her bloodied face, Andy looked over at Naytili, deepening a cut across her arm. Naytili, understanding where it would go, charged attacks at her, but the woman seemed to defend herself quicker this time around, an entertained expression adorning her skin. Thorns dashed to the woman, who used her magic to cut some and dodge others. Laughing at the serious look of the witch, Andreia, in a blink of the eye, appeared behind Naytili, a blow to her head throwing her on the cold ground.
“You really are nothing without that wretched staff, aren’t you?” she said, her thorns reaching for her weapon before the enemy jumped back in defense “How tragic, I guess I’ll have to be the one to kill you.”
“You filthy specimen…” Naytili retorted, holding her wrist which had a small cut from her thorns. The battle between the women lasted from a few more agonizing minutes, the walls shaking and suffering the damage. Between blood gushing and adorning the stones from both of them, the hysterical laughs from the Esora along with her whips, and the blasts of her enemy’s energy, Andreia kept her posture, her savage side craving the agonizing screams of others, however feeling already drained of blood. Just as the battle seemed to reach its climax, Andreia heard a yell that reached the steps.
“Andy! Step aside, now!”
Came in Ezarel, along with Jamon and Caméria. Vial in hand, the elf entered the battlefield, and with the Esora scoffing and holding Naytili still for the necessary time, he threw the liquid onto her, sizzling sounds being heard against her skin. Naytili’s eyes widened, a weak and furious growl coming from her.
“You-!” She glared at Ezarel, who stepped back cautiously. In a last move, she freed herself from Andreia’s thorns and, in a bolt of purple light, was gone. For a few seconds, the cellar became painfully quiet, before Jamon rushed to get Nevra to the infirmary, while Caméria checked on Valkyon, who had the luck to still be conscious and be able to get up on his own.
“And why did you have to interfere on my fun?” Andreia retorted, her demonic eyes piercing through the blue haired elf “I could’ve handled her, instead of you throwing one of your disgraceful potions at her.”
“It was necessary, before you got worse than you are.” Ezarel responded, after seeing her face get pale, her eyes slowly squinting. Andreia felt her body ache all over, her head about to burst. Before falling down, Ezarel reached out and grabbed her on time. Holding her carefully, he witnessed the roots of her hair slowly go back to their original color, a concerned look on him. He kneeled down, holding her head gently.
Andreia woke up in her bed, small bandages around her deepest cuts who hadn’t healed yet. Feeling her head still aching, she slowly sat up, looking at her own bedsheets. She didn’t remember much what she had done in the battle, as usual. Did she kill Naytili? Or did she fail? Even though her hands were cleaned, she felt them dirty, like she always did. She hated to use her wild side, it disgusted her. Suddenly, she felt her heart pierce, the vision of Nevra, bloodied on the floor with Naytili’s weapon piercing him haunting her mind. She dashed out of her bedroom concerned, rushing to the infirmary. Andreia knocked on door, having Ewelein answer it with a warm smile on her face.
“Andy! I’m so relieved you’re up and better. Come in, Nevra just woke up.”
Her cheeks heated slightly. Thanking the nurse, Andy walked in, following the elf who went to grab a potion for him to drink.
“Ewelein… What… Exactly happened?” Andreia spoke softly, Ewelein’s smile slowly fading away.
“It seems that Naytili this time decided to attack again, but not alone. She had a clone of herself attacking members near the entrance of the Crystal room, while she was down at the cellar. When he knew what was happening, Ezarel hurried to making a dangerous concoction consisting of manaa draining. When the real Naytili was splashed with it and vanished, so did her clone. The majority of the wreck was dealt while you recovered” The fair-haired lady said, noticing a saddened look on the young woman “Andy… We have you to thank. If you hadn’t been there, who knows what she would’ve done… Nevra’s life was saved because of you.”
A shy smile appeared on her beautiful face, while still looking down. Andreia felt so grateful for her kind words.
“It… Appears that this time, she simply acted as a distraction… Miiko believes that while Naytili threw a whole circus, our friend Ashkore paraded around and stole some supplies – food, medicine, important documents. Thankfully nothing too serious” Ewelein noted, both passing the bridge of the infirmary to Nevra’s bed. The vampire, upon seeing Andy, gave a sincere smile, his eye lighting up in adoration.
“I’ll leave you both alone now. Don’t forget to take this, Nevra” she nurse said smiling and placing the potion on the bedside table, before leaving the lovebirds to talk while she went to attend her other patients.
“Nevra…” she said, her eyes tear up quietly at his state. He was clearly in pain, the bandages around his chest filled with blood stains from the multiple wounds he had obtained from the battle.
“Here’s my beautiful girl…” he responded, holding his hand out for her to take. His fingers caressing the back of her hand gently, he gave her a most beautiful smile. He felt himself get better just from her presence. Andy sat at the end of the bed, stroking his cheek lovingly with a worried look for him.
“I’m sorry I didn’t act sooner… This could’ve been prevented” she said, her eyes avoiding to meet his. Nevra’s heart tightened inside his chest. One of the things he absolutely couldn’t let happen was to let his gorgeous girlfriend hold herself down. Slowly – and painfully – siting up on his bed, he sighed softly before cupping his hands against her cheeks, forcing her to look into his eye. Giving her a supporting and loving gaze, his lips gently kissed her forehead tenderly.
“Don’t you even think that, Andy. Hadn’t been for you, I’d probably be dead by now because of that witch. You’re very strong and courageous for confronting her… I’m in great dept with you… You’re amazing” he whispered, filling her cheeks with loving and soft kisses to cheer her up. Smiling softly and whipping some tears away, Andy looked at him with a soft look he always fell deeper in love with.
“Thank you, Nevra… I really don’t deserve you” she mumbled, before once again feeling his lips, this time against her own. Breaking the kiss, the vampire tucked some hair behind her ear gently.
“What did I say… No undervaluing yourself, alright honey?”
Flustered and with her cheeks red, Andreia looked down as her hairs covered her face, nodding quietly. Hearing her handsome boyfriend chuckle lightly, she grabbed the potion from the bedside table.
“You need to take this… So you get better faster.”
Taking a look at the vial, he nodded before sighing. Nevra knew this wouldn’t have a great taste, but, it couldn’t really be helped. Taking it from her gentle hands, he leaned it against his nose slowly, before sniffing it. His face contorting disapprovingly from the smell earned a small – and adorable – laugh from Andy, which made him give her a goofy and loving grin. Taking a breath in, he gulped the liquid down in one take, frowning from the bitter taste. Andreia took the flask from his hands and placed it down again giggling, before kissing his cheek.
“Good boy, you drank it all!” She said teasingly, making the Shadow’s Chief sulk adorably. Helping Nevra lay down on the bed, Andreia tucked him in gently, all the while Nevra admired her. He was so grateful to have such a gentle, beautiful soul as her as his girlfriend. He wouldn’t give her up for anyone else.
“You rest a bit while I’ll go grab your lunch so you can get that bitter taste out of your mouth, ok?”
“You’re just a blessing, you know?” He hummed, Andreia smiling in response before leaving to the canteen.
Upon returning with his tray of food, she saw that Karenn had come in to see her brother. Upon seeing her, she helped him sit up again, Andreia laying the tray on his lap.
“Do you want me to leave you both to chat peacefully?” Andy proposed, smiling at them.
“No, no! Stay here!” Karenn responded with Nevra nodding in agreement “I… wanted to thank you for saving my brother, Andy. You’re very strong…”
Smiling and simply hugging the young vampire, Andy said it was nothing but her job. While Nevra ate his meal, the three chatted away happily, avoiding any serious conversation to not ruin the mood.
The day passed along smoothly, despite people trying to recover from the night before. Many were still helping restocking the lost contents and cleaning up the damage, while those most affected from the battle recovered. Andy, after cleaning up part of the cellar, received the news that Nevra was no longer in the infirmary, and was able to rest on his bedroom. During his recovery, Andy would do anything for him – help him change bandages, help him dress when he felt weak, bring him food and medicine. Nevra felt so spoiled with his girlfriend’s love and attention, which helped him recover twice as fast. When he had recovered fully, Nevra decided to spend his last day off with his lover. He and Andy spent the sunny day having a relaxing stroll and having a picnic at the beach, filled with cuddles and affection, of course. At the end of the day, before they left the beach, Nevra and Andy were walking alongside the shore with their fingers intertwined.
“Andy. I wanted to once again thank you for all you’ve done to help me these past couple of days. Hadn’t it been for you, I…”
“It’s nothing, Nevra. I love you so much, it kills me to not see you at your best. It was my job as your lover to help you…” She replied. Her words flustered his heart, she really was an angel. Gently stroking her smooth cheek, he took his time to admire her beauty. The gentle wind blowing her hair with the heavenly mixture of a blue and orange hue complimenting her beautiful self, he realized how deep in love he was.
“I love you, Andy” he cooed, before kissing her passionately. After breaking it, he gave her a teasing, but sincere grin “You’d make a great wife one day!”
Face suddenly red, she slapped his arm gently, her heart beating faster as he laughed quietly.
“S-Shut up…”
“Let’s go back now? It’s getting dark.” He suggested, her nodding in response. Wrapping his arm around the girl he so dearly loved, they walked back to the Headquarters. He really did love her. Andy, to Nevra, was one of the most precious people he’d ever had the pleasure of meeting… And he’d make sure she knew it.
