Since poise has been buffed across all armour, you don't have to wear a heavy set to reach certain poise breakpoints, which allows for more variety of armour sets. In other words;

The most notable changes:
Damage scalings are now adjusted for PvP
Significant buffs to underpowered spells and ashes of war, increased motion speed and recovery time for most Ashes of War
Significant nerfs to most overpowered spells and ashes of war, such as Rot Breath, Seppuku and Bloodboon Ritual
Almost all armour in the game has received a poise buff
Meanwhile most weapons in the game received a buff to their poise damage
Overall a really really great patch! And they still aren't done with updating this game. Which means we could expect an update in about a month from now.
