Thoughts on transfem thiollier?
I'll be honest Thiollier seems like the type of get who'd be too scared to look me in the eye. Which is cute. Honestly Thiollier made me feel nothing so transitioning would've saved her from my indifference
An insight into my thought process when invading, with a green text format because I like the way it's structured:
> be me
> invading in Elden Ring for fun (idiot)
> before I'm even in their world, I check the lobby to see how many people I'm up against
> 3 people, one of them has a japanese name, safe to assume the rest are japanese (which means the latency is going to be shit)
> Mentally shrinking my avalible arsenal for close quarters confrontation down to like 3 weapons
> 0.1 seconds after the loading screen ends I take note of the area, the spawn point gives me an idea of where they are (sometimes)
> 5 seconds after the invasion starts I look for which mobs are dead and which are alive, which ones move around and stand still, to approximate their location
> 10 seconds into the invasion I see a healthbar appear, immediately knowing how much hp one of them has, who they're fighting and where, run to that location while calculating all potential choke points and ambushes I can pull off on the way
> approach them, they don't see me yet, try to ambush from the corner
> they don't react fast enough but due to latency with Japan they are able to spam roll away from some damage even though I performed all the correct actions, they have an invulnerability button
> make some distance, take a few hits. Note their builds, how much hp and defences they have, set to prioritise people with lowest health
> they have no reason to progress through the area, and I can't attack them head on, so I deploy the Throwing Shit Tactics™
> trying to stimulate their smooth brains enough for them to think that if they don't attack, I will slowly whittle them down, which is objectively not true, they can stall forever, but I can make them believe they can't stall forever
> throw pots, shoot arrows, cast magic, apply status effects
> they bite, start pressuring me
> I retreat to mobs, giving me breathing room and maybe separating them
> one of them gets tunnel visioned on a mob and overextended for 0.8 seconds which gives me an opening to land a hit
> his buddies immediately swarm
> I calculate that if I hit him again and then throw something for a finish, I can take him out, but I need to take some damage, I decide that it's a reasonable risk, considering how few mobs there are in the area
> the plan works, he dies, but I take more damage than I anticipated because one of them is overlevelled
> I survive with little flasks left
> making the best out of the situation I stack regen buffs that I prepare beforehand on every build to save on heals
> from the gameplay I've seen so far I determine that these guys are trash at the game and are super predictable, I could maybe take a 2v1 if I soften them up
> when I engage they run away because obviously it's impossible to kill an invader with 2 flasks left when all you have is a measly level 400 phantom, triple her heals, and insane latency that allows you to be invulnerable, you obviously need more firepower to defeat that
> I weigh my chances with the remaining mobs in the area I have and determine that I might not be able to pull off the same play if they have 3 people again
> run after them hoping I'm good enough to just beat them in a 2v1 with no mobs and almost no heals
> playing aggressively is hard but I manage, I use all the moves I know to keep them busy
> unfortunately I run out of stamina before they run out of spam, I take damage and have to heal, they summon a third, I retreat
> I have no heals, there are three people at almost full health, and 3 dogs before the fogwall
> the dogs would be useful if the phantoms didn't one-shot them
> they attack me immediately as I retreat, I can't ambush
> I do what I can but I'm not good enough at the game to beat 3 people with nothing
> I take out the guy who died earlier, but the heal doesn't reach my flask in time, and they corner me
> die, reflecting on what I could've done differently to maybe win this, as they perform dishonourable actions over my corpse.
> The last thing I see before everything fades to black is the notification about a hunter being summoned into the host's world
> realise that even if I suddenly gained all of my heals back and absolutely destroyed these idiots in an epic 3v1 showdown, I would still have to fight 2 blue hunters
> gain the !Ultra Mega Depression! status effect and close the game
The same invasion from the hosts perspective:
> be me, playing elden ring for the first time after getting it on the winter sale
> summon 2 of my friends who have played this game on release
> they literally destroy everything in one hit
> we get invaded
> guys let's just wait for the invader to fight us here
> the invader doesn't fight us in an enclosed space where we can melt her instantly
> charge the invader, mash attack buttons randomly
> thanks to our epic teamwork she can't attack any of us without taking guaranteed damage
> my friend dies
> obviously have to resummon him again, why wouldn't I, it's free advantage for no cost
> almost died trying to resummon, thankfully my well times dodge button spam allows my friend to land guaranteed damage on the invader
> Charge her again
> Mash buttons randomly in complete safety of my friend's hitboxes surrounding me at all times
> my friend dies again, but we defeat the invader
> hard earned victory
> a blue shows up a little too late, I wish we could have 4 people on our team
> walk into the fogwall
> die to the boss in one hit because I have no health and never had to learn how to build my character due to having 2 level 400 phantoms throughout the entire playthrough
What weapon type is the sluttiest/makes you think the wielder is a slut?
Alright listen, whips are a cliché and obvious choice, of course the BDSM instrument is horny as fuck, it's not even a contest.
Dane's Footwork is top tier for the feet people.
Milady is a very dignified kind of slut, she's elegant about it.
But a real sleeper choice is Swift Spear actually. It's a weapon that tells me: oh yeah girl you like suffering. You enjoy pain. You bounce and moan and do tricks on it.
Ask me more stuff I have 6000 hours in this god forsaken videogame
If you ever play Elden Ring coop and you just really wanna die very fast when you get invaded by huggingtentacles just wear this:
This item is basically saying "please make killing me first priority". This item is perfect for situations where you just wanna see the loading screen as soon as possible.
Wait you use edited save files for your ER invasions?
Yes!
Elden Ring is not built for regular invasions. It's built with the seeming intent that you'll invade maybe 3 times throughout your playthrough. When you start spending your evenings invading for fun like huggingtentacles, suddenly a lot of problems arise.
For example, consumable items. During an invasion I can potentially use up 10 boluses that remove the rot status ailment, for example when I invade in a rot swamp. That bolus is rare and the items you need for it are borderline non-renewable, with each dropping once every 10-20 minutes. So that's one invasion where I deplete my resources, and if I do a second one.. well I'm fucked. Go farm for an hour to collect enough resources to invade again. The game is just not prepared for me invading often. And rot boluses aren't the only example: almost every consumable is a pain in the ass to farm. My edited save file has all of my consumables completely filled up.
Another advantage of having an edited save is invasion areas. If you play through the game normally you'll encounter a bunch of places where you can summon phantoms and be invaded, but they aren't exactly designed for invasions. They're small spaces where you just get either blendered immediately or the host enters the fogwall, either way you're sent to the loading screen.
My edited save file removes fogwall areas and bad invasion spots from the invasion pool. No more invasions in Rykard's cave or Radahn's Beach or Caria Manor with bad placements or any pre-fogwall areas. I can only invade in the spots that I like, which is impossible to select in the game itself.
Also sometimes I want to lower my character level and I can't be fucked to delete my old character and beat the game again.
I've played this game for 6000 hours and I don't care for PvE much anymore unless it's Malenia. Editing saves removes some horsing around for me too. Overall a great experience!
Most underrated character or boss, go
My crucible knight girlfriend in the Crumbling Farum Azula that is hostile to hosts and invaders. Me and her have a love/hate relationship where I love her and she wants to fold me in half vertically. Nobody talks about her because the only way you find out she's like that is if you invade in that area. But she is amazing. I want to kiss her as she hatefucks me
In Elden Ring invasions, the difference between fighting 2 people and 3 people is tremendous compared to the difference between fighting 1 person and 2 people.
I am good enough to the point where I will even sometimes take a 2v1 if I have the resources, and I would win a lot of the times too.
The difference is in the mechanics of the fight itself.
When fighting two people, you generally won't have breathing room, but you CAN claw out a winning advantage if you're good. If you hit a guy hard enough, he has to retreat, which means the other guy has to face you in 1v1 for 3 seconds or so. By the time those 3 seconds are over, you can probably hit the other guy and force him to retreat. So you kinda just switch targets until you have a kill opportunity.
In a 3v1, hitting one of the coopers does NOTHING to improve your position in the fight. It doesn't matter that the mage of the party just took 1700 damage to the face and lived by a sliver, he just retreats behind his friends spamming hitboxes your way, and you're still under a disadvantage. It is actively a bad idea to attack a 3v1. (Doesn't mean that I won't sometimes fight them anyway because I'm just that good) (I lose those more often than I don't)
It's a tremendous thing to win a 3v1 and I think invaders deserve immense respect for putting themselves in a position where they will most likely lose.
Likewise, being a blue summon will be met with nothing but scorn in my eyes.
Not to be a Fromsoft Elitist but if you haven't beaten Elden Ring while at least 2 sexy women are invading your world, shoving you around with their big weapons and bullying you and kicking you and uh. What was the post about
something about beating elden ring while two women invade you and absolutely stomp you while you’re running through the level, and then they pin you down together and- Sorry i lost my train of thought
Recluse fanart!
I have been having so much fun with nightreign and literally play it non stop help- I've 100% the game already!
Of course, I main recluse shes so GORG
I miss when people sent me asks about Elden Ring that required long elaborate answers. This is what I get for ignoring my inbox for like 8 months
You. Me. Elden Ring colosseum. I've had 9 hours of sleep. We're doing 10 duels. You can use any tricks to win that are within Elden Ring's community guidelines.
how many are you winning
not a single one
1-3
4-7
8-10
no idea/see results
If you answer anything above zero you have to tell me which weapons and tricks you're gonna use
I wonder how many 8-10 answerers are on Playstation and would like to back up that claim :^)
oh hey! i have an invasion question if u dont mind answering!
this ended up INSANELY long im so sorry djdjdjfjdhdhd
context for question
as someone whos kind of mediocre at fromsoft games, i usually rely on my partner (whos much better) to help me get through the games. we do a lot of co op together and explore areas, and generally focus exclusively on PvE, but because of that we get a LOT of invaders whenever we play together, especially because i tend to overlevel to help compensate for my lower skill
and my question is, whats the fun in invading for you? asking genuinely because theres a real dedicated community, who seems to genuinely desire to invade while avoiding the more toxic playstyle tendencies a LOT of invaders tend to fall into
from my perspective, PvP has its own draw, but duels exist separately from invasions, and my thought is that the community interested in PvP would focus on that opt-in system dedicated to it, where people are constantly honing themselves against each other and you can assume that everyone there is ready and willing to participate in PvP
whereas invasion in my experience sends PvP focused players against PvE focused ones and there ends up being a huge skill gap. In my experience, someone invades and as soon as we see each other, the fight is over in a few moments just because we arent prepared for PvP like that. it doesnt seem fun to fight players so below your skill level that you just crush them, and while in ds3 there were several invasion-focused grinding methods, elden ring gives you next to nothing for it
as someone who hasnt stepped that far into PvP beyond double checking common etiquette, whos main experience is being corpse piled to death without even being able to swing back, im really interested and curious to hear what part of the invading experience im missing from my limited perspective that rly draws you and other people to it
sjdushshdhd thank u for even reading this massive fuckin ask and even if u dont wanna respond, i hope you have a fantastic week and that you have a lot of fun in pvp!!!
Thank you for this ask, I love getting those, especially if they're invasions-related. Your ask is pretty long so it's only fair if my response is also as thorough as possible :)
"What's the fun in invading for you?"
Short answer: invasions make me horny.
revenant :3
