Ridley’s species is endangered, and Ridley is one of the last specimen left (if not the last one period). The only reason the Galactic Federation doesn’t fine Samus Aran for “brutality against space dragon” is because the aforementioned space dragon is a galactic threat and for that reason they have declared it okay to kill the space dragon affiliated with the space pirates. The Galactic Federation even made sure to write that detail down in the law books as an addendum to the “You may not harm an endangered species” law.
