// Before I continue the URL meme, something crossed my way not too long ago, and it will likely need more than a bubble reply.  So, thank you both, @light-of-judgment and @eldritch-sanctum, for starting this discussion.  Keep in mind this is also my personal opinion, so feel free to disagree with me if you think otherwise.

At first, no, Terra’s desire to understand love and to find love was on a literal fence.  You might not think that when reading Ted Woolsey’s translation of Final Fantasy VI, since it leaves it ambiguous as hell.  And if she was asking Shadow, of all people, what love means just as she finished talking to Leo, you get the distinct impression most of the Returners were avoiding this topic when it came to Terra.

It’s only until after the world goes to shit, that we see Terra’s concept of love is more maternal in nature, even instinctual, rather than “OH WOE IS ME I NEED A MAN IN MY LIFE SO HE CAN BOINK ME AS I BEND OVER A DESK!”  Granted it could also be solely because the translators and devs were trying to keep it PG-13, but it’s not until this moment, when she finally defeats Phunbana, that she realizes what she feels.  Does Terra immediately latch on to the nearest man she can?  Not even close.  Would she?  Maybe, if she had a proper talk with her friends.

With my portrayal, this talk has happened already, first with Celes, then with Maria ( @artemisxbow ).  And there are a few people Terra wouldn’t mind pursuing romance with.  But for the purposes of this discussion?  No, Terra never says “I need to fall in love.”  Strictly she just wants to “understand love,” the emotion itself.

Yeah I figured as much. I think the series is still going in Japan under the name Monster Farm but I wish we could get more over here again.))

   I’ve only played the GBA version and shitty app version so far.    

I tried looking up the app but couldn’t find it anywhere. But also I heard there was a lot of monetization. If you’ve got a psone or ps2 I still recommend MR2 and MR3. MR4 was pretty good too but it tried a more ‘traditional’ storytelling style (that is there is a named protagonist instead of you naming and headcanoning the person yourself). I tried the gba versions and didn’t find them as captivating as the other versions.

I never got to play the first game so I don’t know how good it is. The same goes for Monster Rancher Evo but I heard bad things about that one. Swapping out discs to create new monsters in 2 was really fun though and combining them in any game is just wild.))

Yes! I started with MR2 years ago but right now I’m playing the DS version.
